follow the guide on the bag. The quantities listed on the bag are daily recommendations, so split that amount into 3rds. There really is no 1 answer. Just watch your dogs weight as he gets older but for now at that young age i'd just follow the recommended portions.

I usually give her 1/2 to 1/2 & 1/4 . She still seems hungry with just a half.

Don't follow the bag. You should go off of how your dog looks. Little bitty puppies I personally like to do a free feed kinda thing. With Ammo I'd basically just fill his bowl and let him eat what he wanted. Normally it was around a cup to cup and a half. As long as she's not obese or you can't see her ribs hip bones and spine and is getting too skinny she's fine. I like little puppies plump for a while. I don't start really regulating food until 6 months. Then they go onto the older dog schedule.

I never recommend free feeding! Being as the dog is so small you can't really gauge by the way the dog looks as stated above. I would feed the dog about 1 1/4 cup a day exactly how you are! Keep in mind that he will hit growth spurts over the next year. One day all the sudden he will look super lean and you'll think oh no i'm not feeding him enough. But then his body weight will catch up with the growth spurt and he'll look stocky. Then he will hit another growth spurt, get tall again and look lean. This fluctuation is totally normal. Good rule of thumb, you should always see a visible tuck in the waist and you should be able to see a rib or two. I'd start paying closer attention to this as the dog approaches 6-8 months. Then start adjusting food accordingly. My dog is 10 months, she is fed a little over 2 cups a day. She gets a heaping cup in the morning and another heaping cup in the evening. She gets walked/jogged 2-5 miles a day.

I don't recommend it after 6 months. Like I said I like plump little puppies I think Ammo was doing around 2 1/2 cups a day then. He was nice and plump. You can't Guage that young but you can definitely tell if you're under feeding.

oh yea absolutely, i never free fed for a couple reasons
one dog of mine resource guarded.
I want them to depend on me for food. It's what they respect most and I control it.

Yea that's where I started was 2 a day. Ammo gets close to 4 now. Any less and he looks like we starve him haha.

our heeler mix resource guards and is fa toward the other dogs. They each have their area for food times I didn't exactly free feed ammo bc of her but I would fill his bowl and let.let him eat what he wanted. It worked until I started regulating him. So it was kinda free feeding but not lol
