Wisdom Panel Results now questions for experts
My MIL's dog is considered by the city to be a Pit Bull. It is quite a burden and expense, including fees, additional insurance requirements, required enclosures, signage, etc. to have this dog considered a "vicious breed". He was labeled a Pit Bull by a vet when Dubs caught a bat in the house and the vet reported him to the city as a Pit Bull.
My husband has suspected for a long time that Dubs really wasn't Pit Bull at all, so we had a Wisdom Panel DNA test done.
The results are in and say:
American Staffordshire Terrier
Saint Bernard Mix
Googling "American Staffordshire Terrier vs. Pit Bull", I'm not getting any clear answer. Are they the same breed or not?
I think even if they are the same, interchangeable breed name, we may still be able to get Dubs off the Pit Bull rolls with the city since he is only 25% American Staffordshire Terrier. I believe the law says he must be 50% or more.
