water and raw diet

I know that the dog will get more water when eating a raw diet. But my question, is there an amount of water that the dog Needs to get while eating the raw diet. Thanks for helping. Maria

you should provide as much clean, fresh water as the dog will drink. without causing distended stomach or vomiting of course.
on average i think it's somewhere around 1 cup of water / 10 lbs of body weight / day.
but more active dogs will need more.

A healthy dog will drink when thirsty. You can keep a bowl of water down. However most dogs that are fed strictly raw do not drink much water...the raw provides them with pretty much what they need. Mine hardly ever drank water when I had them on just raw.

That's one thing I like about a raw diet - the amount of moisture the dog gets. But still, a dog should always have free access to water, except for the obvious specified times when he shouldn't. It's just common sense.

And then we have the most UN-natural of foods in kibbles! (when it comes to water!). Put lots of water on that kibble! Not necessary to feed it dry all the time!

In Florida it's super icky lol. My tap water kicks ass. I made the mistake of thinking all tap water was this good. Never again. I couldn't even brush my teeth with tap water in Florida. Gross. lol

That makes me feel very fortunate for the tap water we have in our new area. We have awesome tap water now! I didn't realize tap water was so different from one area to the next until I took a shower at a hotel out of state. That water made my hair feel all crusty and I could barely get a brush through it, so I definitely wasn't going to drink it.

I didn't realize it either. It's crazy. I complained to people and they said it smells clean. Water should not smell like anything lol.

Right! haha!

REAL 100% H2O tastes BAD. As in...tastes like NOTHING. The reason bottled/purified water "tastes good" is bc of the added minerals.

I've never been one to be anal about water (bc Chicago water is not that bad) but seriously....after moving to Arizona and witnessing the "water spots" of WHITE powder around my sinks I decided "that aint right" lol

ames is so right! that florida water is funky. especially after it rains.
we have very hard water here. but grocery store brand spring water is $1/gal. it just went up a couple cents because of the drought here in CA. still only costs me about 7 to 9 bucks per month to water the pup.
i normally keep 20 to 30 gallons in rotation. so it's just part of my routine.
