Hey guys. I recently took in a new rescue giving me 3 dogs for the time being. The 3rd dog, and his added pee, has really pushed the potty area stink level over the top. I can smell it from the house and deck now.

Anyone have any good solutions to keeping the odor down during these summer months?

They are currently just going on a section dirt/grass. The spot is at edge of property so can't be moved any further. I am open to converting their area to mulch, pea gravel, etc, if needed...whatever would help the smell!!

Thanks in advance.

I take my boy on walks to avoid the yard smelling. My yard is tiny at .08 acres so I don't let him go in the hard if we can help it. I walk him and then go hang on the yard with him.

first you need to aerate the soil. that can be alot of work depending on how much area you have. and what kind of substrate it is. add the gravel after. but the dogs may change their preference to another area. if they still like the dirt/gravel, then you can water the area every week to move the urine down into the soil.
also aerate the lawn. add some lime. water to push it down. and water often.

When I know we are going to have a good thunderstorm I place lime in the area with a spreader where they go and not let the dogs out until after the area is dry or take them out to another area on a leash. It neutralizes the acid in the urine. No more smell. I do that twice during the spring/summer
