Need help with toys!!

Hopefully this is the right section, i need help and advice on what toys you guys give your dog.

I can not find anything that will last more than an hour, sometimes less than 60 seconds before its ruined and its gotten to the point where I just buy Bruno bones and stuff that's edible so I don't have to take it away when its ripped apart

I've tried all the regular pet store toys, black Kong toy lasted about 5 min. Once he realized its faster to destroy the toy to get the treat lol. No rubber toys work, ropes are chewed up in minutes, squeaky toys don't last. I've tried anything in the pet store that looks somewhat durable and its not working all. Its gotten to be a game and my family takes bets on how long the new toy will last lol

So what do you guys use? Anything odd that will last? Or maybe order online? Any help is appreciated, winter time is here and its cold, need more inside toys lol

Nylabones! Galileo bones, jolly balls, tires, and surprisingly the "toy" that has held up the best is those heavy duty rubber rings that come off of bowling pins. Our local bowling alley owner gives them to us and they last forever.

Nylabones and Jolly Balls have always lasted the test of time for my current boy and past dogs.

These days King barely touches his Nylabone or Jolly Ball for that matter, he seems to go for his moose antler 90% of the time.

The only high value "toys" I've got now are Dean & Tyler tugs which I only take out after flirt pole LOL.

Thanks! the nylabones aren't edible correct? they are just chew toys shaped as bones. i always see them but didn't think they would last so i didn't get them. i'll give it a try tho. And i'm not sure about the bowling pin ring, but i'll look into it

Thanks, i'll definitely give the nylabones an jolly balls a shot tomorrow. i'm looking at the dean and tyler site now to maybe pick something up.

Are all the nylabones pretty much the same, or is there a specific one or style you guys get?

Nylabones come in a ton of different shapes and sizes. I don't use the edible chews but they do have some if that's what you want.'

This one is super popular at our house:

Dura Chew® Barbell | Product Finder | By Product Type | Nylabone®

and this:

Daily Dental? Curve Design Bacon | Product Finder | By Product Type | Nylabone®

Same with this, but it's not as strong:

Dental Chew® - Bone | Product Finder | By Product Type | Nylabone®

And the galileo bone has held up the best of all:

DuraChew Galileo® Bone | Product Finder | By Product Type | Nylabone®

The one I've got for King is the DuraChew(1st link in BC's post above ^^) and I got the XL size since he's a pretty intense chewer.

You can't go wrong with any Dean & Tyler stuff though. Their tugs are built for abuse. I've got one in each material they offer. I keep those stashed away as super high value for King that I have him practice clean "outs" on.

Yeah the tugs definitely look nice. I was thinking maybe getting it for his spring pole or flirt pole? But as just a toy, he would just chew it and probably destroy it because that's not the intended use lol. I could use it to play tug with him and take it away after not leave it laying around

I've had that barbell for 4 months now and it is still going strong! It has become camo's in crate chew.

Yeah definitely use those tugs for spring/flirt or "hand" pole like me LOL...but yeah I wouldn't leave those out on the regular to chew on. I'll spin em around my head like a helicopter and make King nuts.

Yeah I might get it for hand tug around the house. Although I just had back surgery so that's out of the question for a while lol

Definitely gonna get some nylabones and the jolly ball to try.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I've learned that I need the extra large version of kong, nylabones, and any other toy out there. Anything smaller and my Bizmark gets the toy into those back molars and chomps it to bits in no time. Maggie is a little easier on toys, but not much. I can't find a good selection of extra large toys in the pet stores, so I order them online.

Do a online search for gonuts, they stand up very well to aggressive chewers, they even offer a lifetime warrent if I'm not mistaken. If it wears out they will replace it free minus shipping. A lps near me sells them with no shipping charge to replace, I've never had to replace one yet though.

On a side note a cheap temporary toy I've used with no problems are empty 2 litter bottles, my dog loves them. They don't last long but cost nothing if your buying them anyway. I've never had any problems giving them to my dog but make sure you take it away once it is completely trashed so they don't tear small pieces and eat them.
