I'm frustrated??

Can I just vent? Can't vent to other friends because they dont own a Pitbull. recently my hubby got transferred to a new location, he's the bread winner so we're moving. Not enough bread to buy a house yet in the big city so unfortunately have to rent. Then the problem came: no dangerous breed allowed. What's a dangerous breed? Can u just label them like that? Is that a dog racism? Idk but I'm frustrated, very devastated. Our baby girl has been with us for 7 yrs now. She came from a bad situation, used as a bait dog. now I'm facing some judgmental time with potential new homes but some of them have cats(my girl doesn't get along with them unfortunately) most of them want a puppy?one person took her and sent her back simply because dog food is too expensive?I'm going crazy as time of moving is near. still don't know what to??

Yes, most rentals discrimate based on breed, size, or both. The majority don't allow bull breeds. It's frustrating, but a reality.

I suggest contacting some rescues, hopefully breed-specific, in your area that may help you rehome her.

Thanks I did. No luck. I'm just crying over here hoping some angel would fall in love with her. Turned down several that sounded desperate and shady.

the apt said no bull dogs, manager was nice about it and she owns a pit, but rule is a rule. I disagree but accept it.

the most vicious dog I've come across was a itty bitty Chihuahua used to roam free on our street, The owner just ignored It. Some body finally got enough and reported it, shelter took it, guess what, the owner bought another one!! oh so glad we sold the house!

Look for a privately owned rental, not an apartment. We are renting with two APBT. It is possible.

Thanks for the idea! We're moving to Laguna niguel, haven't done any research on private rental. definitely something to look into.

i have some associates in Mission Viejo and Irvine. i know the area.
Laguna is a small place and the average home is almost 1M bucks. neighborhoods like those tend to be very particular about every damn thing. down to how big your mailbox can be. people with that kind dough are more discriminating in their preferences. not to mention the home owners associations with all their rules and regulations.
i don't know what your husband does that would require you to live there. but you would have MUCH better chances further north.
sounds like you already tried to rehome the dog. personally, i would never give up my boy so i cannot understand or help in that regard. i would buy a 5th wheel and live on a campsite or private ranch land before that. but it's only me and him. i don't have anyone else to consider.
if you are committed to finding a solution and are willing to compromise, there is a way to keep your dog.
good luck!

Thanks for ur comment! I was hoping if there are people that love pitties as much as I do or if they lost theirs got stolen etc then my girl can be as happy as she's with me. And we've done research to look for a private place to rent(really beyond our ability right now to buy a house in CA)it's just not possible at the moment. but today I have found a girl who was looking for a rednose to be her own, met up, went well. My baby really likes her, bittersweet but I know she'll be Taken care of. Thanks again for ur comment.

You can also get an insurance policy and write up a resume. It's totally possible just takes hard work. Also if you don't know what breed your dog is since it was a rescue I refuse to allow someone else to tell me what breed my dog is. If i don't know they can't know.

also i would never give up my dog even if the village i live in passed a law banning them. like my vet said easier to say terrier mix to people that seem suspicious of pit bulls
