How much should I be feeding?

I have a 70lb. 3 year old blue pit bull. Recently, we had him tested for allergies and needless to say, dry dog food is out of the question. I now have him on a turkey and beef diet with vegetables as a filler. He typically eats once a day. I am not sure how much of the meat mixture he should be eating. I am giving him 2 1/2 cups now but he always seems to be hungry.

How much should I be feeding?

Are you including bone and organs as well? How many lbs of food are you feeding? Also, a photo of your dog would help us determine if he is overweight or underweight.

I have a blue pit that has allergies and the vet told me to try feeding him Basics dogfood. They have it with salmon, duck, Turkey, and don't use grain in it.. It also uses potatoes and has Omega in it for skin and coat. Trying it right now the vet told me it would probably take up to 12 weeks for him to get all of the old dogfood out of his system. He's been on it about 4 weeks and I have notice that his fur is starting to grow back in the bad area's. And he's not itching as much. Will let you know more when I see more results.

Single source protein from Acana are good for dogs with allergies. What is he allergic to?

There are two models of feeding a RAW diet. Prey model RAW and BARF. They both include organs and bones which are needed for a healthy dog. The meat you're feeding is not cooked, right? Take a look at the raw forum we have and some threads on there.
