I call his house collars his pajamas and his public collars his clothes. He has jackets and sweaters for when it's cold. I tell him to go to bed and I feed him better then I feed myself. But he is a dog. He is just a pet, so his only job is to keep me company and occasionally drive my drunk butt home. (the last part was a joke, he just has to call for a cab) He sleeps in my bed and lounges on my couch. I make time to take him to do dog things like romp and sniff and pee on everything he wants. The rest of the time he is kept under control and is obedient.

If I had children, I would grab them first in a fire. But I don't. So it's a coin toss to whomever is closest, him or the cat.

I respect the inherent need of an animal to be an animal. But I still love the heck out of them as my pets.
My sentiments EXACTLY. I do not have human children either. So, myself & bf call ourselves Kane's Mummy : Daddy.

{My late mother had a t-shirt that said: "My Furry Grandchild is a Pitbull" It was super cute. Now, she let Kane get away with/stuff that I NEVER would have. Yet, we didn't make too big of a deal out of it, because after all, she never had any human grandchildren. I felt kinda guilty about that.}

However, we understand he's a dog & treat him as such...For the most part, anyway

F.Y.I.: Below is Kane, in his "outfits" the only human child-like thing we do is dress him up, occasionally. He really does: Rocks-His-Attire. Wouldn't you agree?
