Question... He's changing color???

I have Prince, a white pit bull (at least that's what his papers said from the shelter). He rescued me a bit over a week ago...

Since he has come home, we have started feeding him Blue Buffalo, and he has gained probably 5 pounds or so... we have also had him neutered and his tail docked (for medical reasons, advised by two separate veterinarians- NOT cosmetic purposes).

Anyway... since he has come home, and probably more so today than I had noticed previously, his hind quarters, the back of his front legs and an area around his right eye and cheek is turning more of a tan color!

He HAD brown freckles on the back of his right ear which are now black...

What could this be? Better food? Getting enough to eat? I have no idea.... I thought of the possibility of him licking, but he cannot lick in all these places....

And also, when he first came home, his eyes were a bluish green... now they are more of a brown...

Not that I care what color he gets to be or what color his eyes are, I am just curious what would cause this!

Any ideas anyone?

Let me try to get a few pics... the shelter said he was one year.
The vet said he thought maybe a bit older than that, so we are thinking maybe a year and a half, give or take...

Let me try to grab a few pics...

It is a strange thing, but I can definitely see the difference...

Difficult to see, but he has a slightly darker coloring in a circle near his eye and cheek...

His nose freckles were nearly non existent when he was brought home...

Again, the coloring is difficult to see, but it's a shade or two darker than it used to be...

And ear freckles that weren't there when he came home...

Huh, neat! I know lots of white dogs do gain black pigment spots as they grow older. My female is black brindle with a white chest and around a year old she developed some black spots in there.

We just returned from the vet (had a tail check up) and he said sometimes it does happen... Could be his nutrition, or any number of things.... Lol! Leave it to me to get the weird dog.

He's a handsome boy. Did the vet think he'd get any darker? You should keep a running photographic record, just for fun. I wish I'd done that with Riley and Michaela, just to see the progression as they matured.

Riley is a brindle with 4 white paws - sometime between one and two years old, his white nails all turned black and his pure white paws all developed ticking.
