First time dog mom support
My name is Jay and my dog is Keegan (hes 2 1/2 years old). We're new to GoPitBull forum (and to any forum site). I have also had a love and a passion for dogs for as long as I can remember, but never was allowed to have one so he is my very first. I am currently finishing up graduate school and working and in a full time internship. (needless to say I'm overwhelmed). I started fostering my pup a year ago and in September decided that I couldn't let him go so adopted him. I love my Keegs to death and wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. But I'm feeling a bit in over my head. Keegan used to be super dog friendly, but as of late September he's been extremely intolerant to dogs. He can still be around dogs and has been successful at saying a quick hello but if they sniff too long or lick him in places he doesn't like, he's skipped the warning growl and just bites them. Unfortunately its not just a nip, each dog (4 to be exact) ended up with a puncture wound. I'm trying to work on his training but I feel as though I'm not doing enough. I've done group training and I've been trying to do what I can at home but I don't feel as confident as I use to. And now I'm trying to find places for my boyfriend and I to live its hard with so many places having restrictions, its all becoming so stressful and I am feeling a bit alone in this.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone have any tips or words of wisdom for a first time dog/pit owner?
