Help - crate and house training

I have a 5 month old Red Nose Female, I got here when she was 14 weeks old. Shes just beginning to understand house training with fewer accidents inside the house but the biggest issue is the crate training. No matter if I take her out and make sure she goes to the bathroom she will go in her kennel, and she seems to be un-phased by sitting in her own poop and pee because she will step in it, smash it down, sit in it.. and its awful. I have tried leaving her in it for a few hours in her kennel to get here to stop, disciplining her, nothing seems to work.

I work 9-6 and I take her out before work twice, and when i come home for lunches. Im at a loss and I hate to keep giving her baths because it makes her skin irritated but I can just leave her with fur covered in her own pee and poop. If you have any tips, struggled with this with your own puppies please, help me!

9-6.. That's quite a long time being inside the crate for a 5month old. She needs more poty breaks in between. Hire somebody to take her outside in between. Or if you yourself can make other arrangements. It's like asking an infant to hold himself for the whole day. Sorry if I sound rude. I don't intend to. But these things are bound to happen if we don't plan out before having a puppy.

I come home for my lunches so i take her out in between 9-6. so shes only really in her kennel for 4 hours then Im home for a hour, then back in for another 5 hours. which is more the enough time for a 5 month old puppy to hold it.

She's probably going in the crate because of the smell. It's very hard to eliminate it completely. A friend of mine used to train dogs for the police, I was having the same trouble with a rottie and it wound up being my kids diapers in the diaper pail in a completely different Room. We wound up bringing them right outside immediately. If they smell a bathroom they'll use it. We can't smell it but they can. They are also creatures of habit so she associates the crate with her habits. Keep strict water and food times and she will learn when to go. Seeing eye dogs are trained to go at specific times so the person can go to places without fear of their dog doing something embarrassing. That being said it's gonna come down to diligence on your part. Pitties have a lot of young energy so the more you tire her out the better off you'll be. Shadow her every move and learn her actions. Then maybe you can stop them before they start. It's a lot of work but it'll be worth it in the end. Hope this helps. God bless.

4-5 hrs is still a long time for a 5month old. They need to get out every 1-2hrs atleast for pee breaks if not for Potty. Maybe some dogs can hold. But most of the 5months can't. Or you'll need strict pee/poty structure to make a 5month old to hold for 4-5hrs. That might sound harsh and impractical to you, but that's the reality I know of.
