Angry Dear parents of children........

Please do not let your kids walk dog's they can't control, when they are unsupervised.
kthanksbye.

ps: Bruno says I eat them ok?

seriously. I was glad the kids heard me,when I told them Bruno was not dog friendly. They were being drug right up the stairs behind us with their dog(same dog who made Beia pee herself)
I was glad I could drag Bruno in and shut the door in time.

That would have been ugly.

yup not a good idea no matter if the kid is big for there age and mature like i hear all the time. the only time my daughter {who's 11} walk a dog is if im there with her and at the moment the only one i let her hold onto is cali the pup. the girls are well bahaved onleash but i know too well thats its not always your dog you have to worry about starting something. i get how people want ther kids to be able to bond with the dog but ther are other ways to do that , or better yet get off your butt and go for a walk with your kid and dog lol glad you were able to get bruno contained before anything happened.

These kids love Bruno and Beia,so when they saw them, they ran over to say hi,they just happened to have their dog dragging them as well....The same dog Bruno hates with a fiery passion.
Just glad these kids listen, and now know Bruno does not like other dogs.
If it was just Beia,it wouldn't have been to much of a problem. However, I still would have told them not to run up with another dog, cause that could cause a dog fight.

I totally agree... that's why only my hubby walks our Kaluha... cz she drags me around sometimes, especially if she sees a bird!! LOL the only dogs my 2 girls (ages 11 & 9) walk are the yorkie and his chorkie (chihuahua/yorkie mix) daughter, which combined probably weigh 6 pounds when wet

I feel ya there! The other day I was over at my friends house and it was a nice day out so Savannah was in the back of the truck(tied in there ofcoarse), and when we got back to my friends house there were 3 kids, each with a dog. 2 were tiny lil ankle biters and the other was a pit, probably just under a year old. And up the leash there was probably a 10 year old girl. Well Savannah and her friend Sugar started going nuts in the back of hte truck, Sugar more so than Savannah. And it took everything that girl had to keep her dog from pulling her over to get at our dogs. Pisses me off that people don't realize that there kids can't handle certain dogs.

It always makes me wonder what the parents expect the children to do if a fight were to break out with a stray dog? No way that a kid could break 2 dogs apart. It's just people not thinking.

And thus, another child mauling story on the 5 o'clock news. But darned those pit bulls. Heaven forbid the parents be punished or held responsible, it's reckless endangerment. I mean, would the parent let their kid just take their car on the highway??

It's a completely different story though if a parent is supervising. Not only for pitbulls but any dog being walked should someone elses get loose.

Exactly. I mean the two tiny dogs were easily managed by the two younger children, but what about a stray dog? I watched a guy the other day minding his own business walking his pit on leash, and this stray dog comes up, which sets off his dog, luckily the guy pulled his dog inside, but what if that happend when a child had the dog? People need to THINK...something that doesn't happen all to often...haha

Here is a story my friend just told me. She game me permission to post it here.

When I was around ten, our neighbor across the street let my friend and me walk her dog, a chocolate lab, for a bit, since it was a nice day out and we weren't in school. So we're walking down the street and get to a corner, and this girl probaby a year or two younger than us was coming out of her fully grown dog (not sure if he was a pit or not, he did resemble Bruno a bit, only probably a bit darker in color I think he was like a pit/boxer mix or something) and TYING THE LEASH AROUND HER WAIST. I, holding the dog leash in my hand (read: correctly) didn't really pay any mind, but knew of the dog since he always ran to his front yard fence and barked at me as I walked by (but what dog doesn't, right?) and all of sudden, this dog seesour dog (can't remember for the life of me the dog's name) and starts barreling towards us, actually DRAGGING the girl behind him. And I, acting on pure instincy, kept a hold and tried holding our dog back.

Big mistake.

Neighbor dog starts fighting chocolate lab, and I'm dead set in the middle of it. From my vantage (I'd fallen down at this point), neighbor dog was attacking chocolate dog, and chocolate dog was trying to defend himself. Meanwhile I'm trying to get up and out of the way, but the dogs kept bumping into and stepping on me and I kept falling back down. I had no idea at this time what happened to the other girl.

After a minute or so the girl's mom came running out and pulled the girl and the dog away. I was finally able to stand up. Remarkably, the only living thing hurt in the melee was me: my knee was scraped and both my palms were skinned, and that was it. I couldn't believe I faird worse than a stupid girl with a leash tied around her waist. But her mother yelled at her for that. The dogs were fine thankfully, no bites, blood or even scratches, but I'm sure they were scared sh**less.

I have never allowed any of the kids, not even my son who is all adamant that he can walk Phoenix, he can handle it, I asked him if he was sure he could handle Phoenix when he saw another dog, Neener weighs more than my kid who is 11 now does, lol. I have allowed them to walk Penny or Orion or Phoebe but only if I am there and have another leash attached, like my little 5 yr. old niece showing Penny. Even at a fun show with the older girls, I made sure someone was there to walk with them. Now my 15 year old niece who is gonna be showing her bully pup, Gage, she walks him by herself, but she has listened and learned about how to handle and pay attention when walkin him. We are still workin on it but she is a total sponge.
NEver let a child walka dog they can't handle

Add to edit - I am gla the kids listened and everything went well.
