Question Planning on adopting a AMPT puppy. Questions. Please HELP

Hey guys, this is my first time posting, I will soon be a first time dog owner so excuse me if I ask some obvious questions. I tried researching and asking around but I think information from a specific breed's forum will be better.

The puppy is only 3-4month old im sure its a pitbull just not sure what kind. I know shelter cant give you definite breed info, but Im hoping from everyone's experience with pit's here you guys can help give me general information about the puppy and whats expected of it.

heres a link of the puppy with pics and video.

Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Oakland, CA | 04090_Britney

my question is:
1) what kind of pit is this?
2) given the current photo and video (3-4month) from experience(if you raised a pitbull from puppyhood) how big do you think she'll get? in weight and size.(the shelter site said she;ll be large but the volunteer there said her paws are small so she'll be medium..)
3) if possible, can you guys go to google or whatever and post a pic of what this puppy MIGHT look like in the future? I seen alot of pitbull that look very differnt from one another

thanks guys!

Man is she ADORABLE!!! That's what kind she is....cute With out papers you will never know for sure if she is pure pit bull or a mix as stated in her profile status. Females tend to be smaller in size so it's hard to say what weight she will top off at. Plus, who knows what bloodline she is, again with no papers on her it's hard to say. A rule of thumb to figure out weight is to take her weight at 4 months old and double it. When are you picking her up?? You will have to post more pics when you get her. She is a DOLL!!!

Congrats on your soon to be new puppy. A pit bull is a serious dog for a first time dog owner. Please make sure you are prepared for being a responsible pit bull owner. These dogs aren't for everyone. Some rules of thumb for pit bull owners:

1. Have thick skin - not everyone is going to love your dog the way you do and they won't always be quiet about it.
2. Steer clear of dog parks: pit bulls are naturally dog aggressive and they may not start a fight, but they will finish them.
3. Stick around here on GP, there is a wealth of knowledge and knowledgeable and experienced owners here who can help you with any questions you may have.

Welcome to GP!

honestly , the best advice i can give you .. a tired pitbull is a happy pitbull is a happy dog owner. Masses of work every day are the way to keep a happy house !
be prepaired for lots of walks .. fairly long walks . lots of stimulation is a must . And i mean daily.

Congrats on the adoption! You're doing a great thing.

+1 to above advice - a tired dog is a good dog.

Dog does "insert poor behavior here" ? Answer 9 times out of 10 is walk him or her more!
Congrats and keep us all updated with pics.

Hard to tell what she'll look like / what she is mixed with. Only time will tell. Looks very cute though.
Also i'd suggest getting her on a solid grain-free formula Diet.

ToTW, Orijen, Blue Buffalo just to name a few. But do your research what type of food you're going to feed her.

She is *massively* cute! Laughing at the choice of the Brittney Spears song Dangerous to go along with her video, 'cause she sure doesn't seem dangerous right now. Have you at least had dogs in your family home when you were growing up? If not, then Terriers in general are a pushy breed, not just the ones of the "pit variety". You've got to be prepared to be the boss consistently because if you aren't, they will gladly take the role and then you'll have problems as she ages and behaviours don't seem quite so cute anymore. Beyond that, I really can't add to the wonderful advice already given here.

Welcome to Go Pitbull!!

I see you're from the 510! I live in Hayward! haha. Congrats on adopting your first dog too, its always good to save a life Oakland Animal Services is right there on 29th, right? I used to drive by there 2 or 3 times a day for work.

Well first off, everyone has already posted really good advice, so I won't go repeating any. But I just wanted to say that she looks like an absolute doll! Very pretty

If you end up picking her up from OAS, I know they do a lot of work with Our Pack which is a pit bull rescue here in the Bay Area. They have classes up there (for people, not dogs) about the American Pit Bull Terrier that would help owners become better and just more understanding of our amazing breed of choice. Our Pack also has obedience classes every sunday down in Los Gatos that I take my boy to every couple of weeks. They're very good at what they do

If you have any questions at all, this is an awesome forum to ask and receive great answers. I have learned a lot here. Don't be afraid to ask! I can try to help with answers too since I'm in the area also
