Too scared to introduce Grace to the baby

I took Eli to my sisters where Grace was staying while I was in hospital and settling in home ect. She heard him whimper and her ears pricked up and she ran over to the table where he was in his carseat. I grabbed her and took the blanket off so she could see him and her pupils dialated and she turned very weird!
Shes back home today and I'm scared to introduce him to her. Maybe I'll have to 'crate and rotate' not that im going to crate my child LOL but when he is in his room asleep she can come inside and sniff.

HELP!

Don't be so nervous, Liv. I was hesitant at first too, but you know your dog better than anyone. Kangol didn't know what to think either but I let him sniff around and within a day he didn't even pay Brayden no mind. While I was still in the hospital my mom would take blankets Brayden had been wrapped in and put them in Kangol's crate so the smell would be familiar when I brought him home. Try putting something of the baby's in Grace's crate while she is in there.

All I really know is two things.. The dogs react from our nervous energy >usually not the way we want*
Mammas know when their babies are in danger.

Trust your gut... you know what your doing.

THE DOG IS A DOG and MUST KNOW ITS ROLE moreso now than ever. Not by punishment, just needs to know the baby's above all~

thats how I roll here, kids are the boss and if the dogs mess up around the kids well I come down on em like I do the kids when they disrespect their mamma or family adults.

Livy do I need to come out there and help you? LOL Just do it a little bit at a time make sure you have someone handling Gracie while you handle the baby. Let her sniff the baby in your arms and get aquatinted with him a little bit each and every day until she get's used to the baby. You will be surprised these dog's are really smart and they know a small child from an adult a lot of the time. I have watched mine interact with kids and they have always been a lot gentler with kids than they are me LOL.

Look me introducing Karma with my sister's 3 month old baby .. Don't be afraid just take it slow

I know how you feel. I get a bit nervous as well at first. FH is right thou...kids first, then dog...that way they don't get out of line.

Have you been presenting her first with baby blankets that smell like baby? That is also supposed to help familiarize with scent at least...
