Dixie Going Under The Knife :(

Dixie is going to get spayed this week. My dogs that I had growing up have all been fixed but this is the first time a dog will be completely in my care after surgery. Any advice or things to expect? Of course it is known to be a fairly safe and simple procedure, but I am still a nervous wreck lol

She will be fine. Just follow the vets advice for her aftercare and keep her quiet and calm which is always a challenge lol! Also, make sure the vet gives her pain meds

Yeah basically don't let them run around like crazy and keep an eye on the incision just in case for signs of infection. You might want to get an elizabethan collar for her so she doesn't lick or pull at the stitches.

My boy could not take the pain meds because with them, he would forget to take it easy and that he just had surgery. I stopped after the second day because he thought he was super doggie on them, lol. Get him a long and put in some peanut butter and freeze it. Get some raw bones from a butcher, basically anything that will keep her busy without moving around.
