My boy wont stay in the back yard throughout the day

So today while at work my neighbor comes in to inform me that my dog has gotten out not one but twice. I come home to a hole in the fence just big enough for him to get out. Luckily he knows my neighbor due to him have a pitbull as well. So he was able to call my boy over to bring him back home. I rarely leave him locked outside because im usually home. now with work i have to leave him in the back but he doesn't like it what so ever. He just wants to escape. Anyone have dog doors? anyone leave there dog in the house? i start work at 8 and im not off til 6. But my brother does come home from work at 1. any suggestions on leaving him in the house? just dont want him peeing and such. hes 9.5 months

First, never leave your dog unsupervised in the backyard, even if it's only for a couple of minutes. That's just asking for trouble, whether from your dog getting out, someone stealing or poisoning your dog, or any number of things.

Second, have you tried crate-training? Is your dog house-trained?

Third, you said your brother comes home at 1. Is he willing to let your dog in and out to go to the bathroom and interact with him for a bit?

I would reconsider leaving him free in the yard if he is an escape artist. If anything invest ina proper dog run with roof and do the flooring so he cant dig out. Or look into a proper chain set up. I wont leave mine outside when im not home even though our fence is escape proof and very tall for more fear of someone comming in somehow and stealing them.

This is why crate training is a must for when you can't be home. Leaving your dog outside (especially this breed) is a risk for stealing. It's actually happened quite a bit on GP where peoples dogs have been stolen right from there own yards. you either need to invest in a 6x6 kennel with a roof and dog house or crate him in your home while you are gone and have your brother take him out and give him a break around 1 when he gets home. To risky leaving him out all day by himself....he is obviously getting bored and as he matures and starts smelling bitches in heat around your way it will only get worse. He will do anything at that point to get out.

My dog was not peeing in the house when he was left for extended times after about 6 months or so. He was however still getting into stuff like my wiimote and ps3 remotes, TV changer, basically I was dumb and dint put stuff up when I left. You would have to worry more about the damage to your house than the bathroom at his age. But if he is used to going when he wants you may want to try the crate. When I go to friends houses and didn't know if it was puppy proof a closed bathroom can act like a crate for containment in a pinch until you get one, if you don't have one now. Just put some toys and blankets down for him. You never know like the above said with theft and the trouble your dog might get in and be picked up by AC.

Make sure when you leave him in the house to roam free he has sufficient toys of interest. Some interactive toys that pop out food treats (adjust food intake also if using this type of toy.) If the dog is bored you may come home to a shredded couch or cushions. They will think of their own devices to entertain themselves. Once I learned they could be trusted not to destroy anything they were left in their own bedrooms with the door closed. Make sure things are put up due to safety issues and doors are secure especially if you place them in the bathroom. Mine knows how to open the cabinet doors among other things. I would never leave mine outside without my supervision.

You might also consider a runner or chain setup....

You need to set up a proper/sturdy chain spot where he can run in a 360 degree circle, OR crate train him. A loose pit bull reflects an irresponsible owner, especially when something goes wrong.
