super cute girl!! I am glad it seemed better, hopefully in a few months you will feel better after a lot of hard work with her.

I just wanted to add that a month isn't really that long for a dog to settle into a new home, especially one that was picked up as a stray (after being on the streets for who knows how long). If she's still having issues settling into your house after several months (5-6), I would start looking into knowledgeable trainers.

Right now, I think you just need to be patient and give her time. My boy had confidence and trust issues from mistakes I made when he was a puppy. It's been a year since I changed my behavior as an owner and he's a completely different dog. Happy, out-going, and a ton more confident than he used to be. But it was very slow going in the beginning and involved a lot of little victories. I'd think of it as if you were a train loaded down with cars going uphill; you're chugging along little by little and you might get frustrated that you can't go any faster and you have places to be and things to do, BUT once you get over the top of the hill, things happen much more quickly and pick up speed and it gets a lot easier.

You haven't had enough time yet, or given her the chance, to make it to the top of the hill. Be patient. She'll come around. :-)

Thanks for all of the advice. No accidents this weekend at all. I think she's coming around. No tail tucking at all either. I laid in the floor Saturday evening just to see what she'd do. She walked up and laid down right by me and rested her head on my shoulder. I think she's starting to trust me and learn the house rules.

She is adorable! Hopefully, with more time, patients and training , she will come around.

Just thought i'd update a little. Jas, i tell ya has done a 180. No accidents at all, she loves the spring pole, and can't get enough of the flrt pole. Totally changed dog. I can't believed an extra week has done. She's still skiddish around my parents. I'm pretty much a homebody, so she's not around a lot of people. I get my fill of people all day at work. haha I like dogs way more than i like people.

Thanks for all of the advice, and support. She just needed more time to adjust to me and my rules.

thats great. I agree with you liking dogs more then people, pretty much how I feel lol. For that you may just want to try taking her places pet stores, parks, schools wherever just to expose her to new people and places. Glad she has improved , hopefully she is just as great a dog as your boy was.

Patients in the key here .. I am not trainer but I have been a foster for as long as I can remember .. growing up my mom would foster dogs that were pretty skiddish actually we had one that even if you would raise your arms at him in any way he would slam to the floor and pee .. literally on himself .. It took alot of hard work and alot of praise and alot of towels and time but it was worth it in the end .. she just needs some time to warm up to you and trust you .. If shes hand shy there has to be a reason . that would be like being beaten by a spouse and then turning around and marrying someone else directly after and not being afraid when they yell . If you can keep calm , take her to training and do excersizes with her to make her feel more confident that you arent going to let her get into a situation where she can be hurt .. If not and you dont want to spend the time Im not trying to be rude but maybe its better for you and her to find her a more suitable place to go .. When I got Izzo she was so under socialized she would literally do back flips in panic to get away from new people . now that she is older and has learned you would never have known the puppy she was before .. I hop eI answered your question in the way you were .. and there are alot of great people who know the breed well on this site .. they can help you more with the training ..

That's one good looking dog. I have a pup with some ears that way too lol everybody is giving you great advice.

Just be patient, one of the rewards of rescueing a dog is being able to take it from nothing to living a full life. Soon she will embrace you and will be your best bud.

Remember, your dog is as confident as you...you are the pack leader. Sounds like you are an awesome one at that...just be patient and consistant
