Service Dog equipment hand-me-downs

Hey Everyone.
I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has an old service dog vest they are willing to part with?
My dog Charlie is a registered service dog. and its a pain bringing her anywhere. I have an online code people can use to look her up. but its just a pain and inconvience for them to have to find a computer and take the steps to actually look up the required information.

Im in really bad need of a med-lrg size service dog vest. most vests are just a ton of money via internet or through companies. So I really havent much of a choice but to ask for help. Im just sooo unable to afford the vest or shipping costs right now, but I really need this vest for my puppy. things here in California have gotten tough and I lost my job all my left over money has to go to Mii insulin (type 1 diabetic. is why Charlie is a sercive dog in the first place)
If anyone is out there and can help. please please send me a message
Thanks again for all yall's time. and take care. I really hope to hear from someone.

-John

Its my understanding the place that certifies your dog and trains your dog will provide the vest. If you can just get them as hand me downs anyone can put a vest on their dog and take it where ever they want claiming to be a service dog, you know?

Where did she pass her certification? I would call and inquire with the people who trained her to be a service dog.

I don't have a vest but...
In most states (all) your dog does not have to be certified. Most places that you pay to have your dog 'certified' are quite simply ripping you off.

Yes, anyone can indeed put a vest on a dog and call it a service dog and depending on where you live people are not allowed to question this.

For example, where I live my dog will not need to have vest, patches, or anything else that identifies her as a service dog. If anyone asks I will simply say that "She is my service dog." End of story.

I do wish I had a spare vest to send, I will keep my eyes open for one, I think they help clear up a lot of confusion. You might consider this as a alternative to a vest.

I'M A SERVICE DOG - vest clip instead of patch optional ADA on back | eBay

You can also sew a patch onto your dogs collar. You can get vests or harnesses for under 30.00 on eBay but if that is too much money then that is too much. Just keep in mind that you while a vest is helpful there are alternatives that are less expensive.

More importantly, know your rights. I think that will help you quite a bit.

Sorry, I should be clear. I am not arguing that California doesn't require registration. (since it does)

Certification and registration can be two different things one is a meaningless piece of paper the other can be required in some states.
