Unhappy I apologize for another one of these threads, I'm just wanting opinions on our puppy

We got a full blooded APBT from a rescue shelter, and when we got her, none of us knew she was pregnant. She had the signs of it, but she didn't gain ANY weight, only lost weight, and she never got a big belly.

Turns out she only had one puppy, and we are trying to figure out if he's an APBT like her, or a mixed breed. The rescue shelter claims that she was ONLY around other APBT's, but some people say he does and then some people say he doesn't. We're not experts with this breed, we only just started raising them.

She is most definitely a full APBT (I know, they're not a full breed exactly, but you know what I'm getting at), and she has her UKC papers. We are just trying to classify this little guy for my sister's sake. It is driving her up a wall.

Most seem to think he is a lab-mix, while others argue that he is an APBT.

Here are some pictures of him:

One: http://i48.tinypic.com/nalj.jpg
Two: http://i47.tinypic.com/5x8sx5.jpg
Three: http://i45.tinypic.com/34ossoo.jpg
Four: http://i47.tinypic.com/2lk91t5.jpg
Five: http://i46.tinypic.com/1pv4vk.jpg

Like I said, some people claim that he looks identical to a pit, while her vet claims that he looks like a mixed breed. However; we have discovered that the particular vet we visit isn't too fond of pitbulls.

Again, I apologize for another "what is my dog" thread, I'm just wanting opinions, not specifics.

To be honest you will never know, so he is a mix breed. He is a cute boy though, and he looks just like mine but with smaller feet and legs. And no one knows what mine is. He has traits that kind of look kinda like pit, and some traits that look like dane. The only hard thing is the color, If people see a black dog they automatically claim it's a lab -__-

How big is he and how old is he? I'm just curious.

It's A nokalokapoopalotadoocanidragaleashalupus.
It's A breed of mixed, strained money extorted practically useless spin off of A once noble breed. What does it resemble?
It resembles watered down, diluted, demented Americans. Why do I say this?
As I walk around in society I see the demise of the human with each passing generation.

That is strange that this rescue group gave you a dog and didn't get it fixed before letting it go home with you AND they gave you UKC papers? Hmmmm...

Bottom line is that most recue organizations do NOT have registered dogs and there is no way of knowing what the pup could be, or any other unregistered dog for that matter. You can not tell what breed 100% a dog is without pedigree papers. There are ALOT of dogs that, when mixed with a bully breed end up looking very similar to the "real thing" but they are not.

The only way to figure out what you have is is to know who got her pregnant
So you will never be able to figure it out, sorry. Why does your sister care? I do know there are rescues and shelters who are sometimes returned dogs for whatever reason that have papers, but ots pretty rare for ALL dogs at a rescue to have papered dogs, and let them knock a bitch up?? Since you don't know who the father is and Maury doesn't do dogs, just say they are mutts and leave it at that. I can't believe a rescue let a bitch get knocked up, you should put them on blast!

also what does the part in bold mean? the American Pit Bull Terrier, aka the pit bull, pitbull, PitBull pitt bull pItBuLl, doesn't matter how people want to screw up the spelling, capitalize the words, there is only one pit bull, and its the American Pit Bull Terrier. There are many breeds society has been unable to grasp that they are not the same breed like American Staffodshire Terriers, American Bully's, Dogo Argentino, hell I even knew someone who referred to their Mastiff a pit bull. The reason its so important to understand is because of how many animals are given a death sentence or banned from living their life in a certain place because of what they MIGHT be. Just what they LOOK like. Genetics show the APBT head shape is a dominant trait, therefore a dog that is only 1% APBT could LOOK 100% like one to someone who just looks at their head. The reason this is important to understand and accept is because of how many dogs are misidentified in the public and media incorrectly as being a "pit bull" when you can only make a guess from a visual identification.

If you rescued you have no idea what you have, i don't care if you got her from a shelter, breed specific rescue or what have you.

The only "real" way of knowing is to know what is behind the sire and dam without question. Just because you adopted with a pedigree means very little. Most "UKC APBTs" are Am Staffs just registered as APBT.. You can't go whats in the name of pedigree, you have to go by knowing the pedigree, trusting the yard in which she was produced and finally, what the dog proves to be. Function separates all, even more so when discussion two or more breeds derived from the same genetic foundation.

i guess i will chime in and contribute to this never ending use of bandwidth...

the puppy's origin is actually a bigger question mark than the background of your rescue dog. i've never heard of a rescue organization that has registered dogs on the yard. and on top of that, an organization that allows unaltered dogs to intermingle.

sounds like you're taking a survey. you want people to "guess" what your dog is. and if the majority of people guess in your favor, you somehow prove the dog is purebred.

sorry buddy. not gonna happen.

dogs are EXACTLY apbt or they are EXACTLY not.
