Bully the Kid's Statement Regarding the Results to Lift he Ban in Miami
BTK attended the rally down in South Beach over the weekend along with Tia Torres and several other advocates for pit bull type dogs. This is the statement he issued tonight regarding the results of the vote.
Alright it's been awhile, but tonight I've got to give people out there both barrels.
First I commend everyone who fought for this breed and continues to fight for this breed.
As a community we are very loud, very proud, very quick to wear T shirts and post where ever, whenever we can about our dogs. Post pictures and vent about Vick, BSL, Lennox, Cowhead or whatever other individual wrongs our beloved breed. However when the opportunity arises to truly make a difference and backhand the powers that be, that condemn our dogs to death by gas, needle or bullet we are too busy to vote.
To busy to truly let our voices be heard. I realize a lot of you don't live in Miami or Dade County and may not know a single person that does, but we all know animals that are affected because we own animals that are affected!
23 years of unjustified murder, condemnation and genocide of a breed in a major American city. Now with the breed on the cusp of regaining some of its respect and regain some of the admirable media coverage it has long deserved, we don't show up or speak out for those who can not, the dogs.
To be on the wrong side of a vote where so few voted is pathetic! I could probably find more pit bull, bully, pit mix puppy ads in south Florida than the amount that took the time to vote. I have never felt defeated when it comes to my breed of choice, I have always connected with the never quit attitude that the breed was created for, but tonight I feel as a community many quit on the breed that never does and that my friends is truly disappointing....
Once again to all fighters for the breed you have my complete and total respect, all those who voted and stood at the polls fighting Thank you, and those who posted and raised awareness Thank you. The rest of you hug your dog and apologize....
Side note...please be aware that those who are against are breed view this as a victory, other cities will take note of this in Miami when they propose BSL. Politicians will use it as a platform realizing that we don't vote. The mayoral candidate that did support repelling the ban may feel that he lost more votes than he gained by supporting our breed. Not saying he does or he did but please understand, politics are about votes. We need to continue to fight and make sure that in the future we do what we expect from mans best friend and that is loyalty to those we love.
Miami I'm relatively young and before I leave this earth I hope to see this ban and all BSL removed from law books around this great country....
New day tomorrow, same fight tonight until......
