Pitt Bull Alergic Reaction to Compost

My dog usually has allergic issues with seasonal changes, particularly spring and fall but the I just spread compost all over my yard and it had a devastating affect on him. He was scratching his body and ears to the point of bleeding and shaking his head continuously.

25mg of Benadryl per lb of bodyweight solved problem within 24 hours. Every six hours on that.

If you compost, keep your dog away from it until it has about 4the days to dry out. I learned the hard way!

Good luck!

Glad you got it worked out for your pup. Hate when my boy scratches and shakes. Wonder what your dog was allergic too lol besides poop haha.

I will say its usually 1mg per 1lb. The way I read your post made it seem like 25mg per pound so I wanted to clear that up in case anyone else reads it that way.

Yeah learnt to keep my pup away from it, but for the pure reason that she tries to eat it..... Normally water it down like crazy for a day and then its fine
