For the love of pitbulls

Ok I am a new mommy of the pitbull breed I have a razors edge/blue named karma, she is brindle in color and she is my baby. I have had her for 10 months. Since i had her my neighbor has harrassed her through the fence. It has gotten to the point that my parents are getting a privacy fence to put up. This man has went from riding his motorcyle in his backyard up and down the fence which causes her to to jump at the fence. One day i brought her in and i noticed she had a small wound on her neck at first i thought one of my other two had done it but it wasn't bite or scratch marks, it looked like she jumped up and hit the pointy parts of the fence as she came back down. My neighbor does the same thing with his lawnmower as well, he yells at them gives them evil looks and even flips them the bird. He has also just recently put up an alarm that he sets off whenever my boyfriend and his friends are outside and when the dogs start barking. He also sometimes throws firecrackers out his back door which scares my dogs as well. (im from north carolina and im not to sure what i should do about my neighbor.
Karma had been through enough before i got her she was kept in a kennel with her bother and sister which attacked her so i took her in and shes happy. She is a sweet baby and is very protective over my son. I just wish i knew what i could do about my neighbors. So please anyone who is willing to help me id greatly appreciate it. Its not for me its for my pit!!

Re: For the love of pitbulls

I would move

Wouldn't be the first time I moved because my dogs weren't as happy as could be! I hope a new location is still an open option for you and that you are able to create a better environment for your puppy. And they're all puppies to me

That sucks. I have been luck to rarely have issues with neighbors and was sooo lucky when I bought my current property that neither neighbor has dogs, both like my dogs, and are good people.

If moving is an option it's the easy way out. If you is doing something illegal the cops could be called. Like if he is setting off his alarm at late hours.

Really there is a lot worse he could be doing, so bugging them isn't as bad. Hopefully with a privacy fence going up that will cut off the contact from that side.

Yeah not worth the neighbor drama they usually get worse if they are getting responses from you. I would also move. But has anyone tried asking him what his problem is?

Also don't leave your dogs outside alone. I have heard neighbors setting dogs free to get them in to trouble so they can be taken.

All good posts. I'm lucky and have neighbors who like my dogs and one always says hello specifically to them if she is out when we are. But if someone was picking on my dogs that would not fly.

And I agree with Ames, don't leave your dogs out alone.

Oh man that's messed up. You know what I'd do. I'd call the cops and see if maybe you could file for harassment. I'm not sure about the laws there but you can't be doing that crap out here. Riding the motorcycle up and down the fence line to make noise would get him a noise violation for sure. Shoot we've had our neighbors call on us just for riding the motorcycle around the block "too many times" lol.

Unfortunately I can move right at the moment. and the cops here don't do a thing. we have put up a partial privacy fence but he still bothers them. My dad has talked to the guy and given him treats so karma would let him pet her and she was ok, she just does not like the lawn mower. We have also come to a agreement within my house that if the neighbor starts his nonsense we just all the dogs inside which they are totally happy about. Karma is the beautiful doggie in my profile pic by the way. And thank you all so much for relying back to my initial post. As soon as I can afford to move I will.

Be very careful and never leave them alone outside. I had my old neighbors poison my childhood dog with rat poison bc she was a barker and whenever someone would be in our pool she would bark. People can be cruel to animals.

Maybe when he pushin the lawn mower back and forth he cuttin the grass..... Does the guy have a shed or garage in his back yard ..... I find it hard to believe a grown as man will take his time to tease a dog.... If ya dog was barkin and jumpin at me everytime I went to rget my bike out sometimes many times a day or if I were to cut my grass it would piss me off to... I may flip the dog of and cuss it to.... If it was a daily thing... But I would def talk to the owner first... Now if he just fukin with the dog the dude wouldn't wanna live next to me for much longer.... I'd make sure of it

Hey wasn't cutting his grass he was riding his lawn mower up and down alongside the fence. My dogs don't bark at him when he's just in his back yard doing other stuff they just watch him. He hasn't been doing it for a while. So things have gotten better as far as my dogs go. They don't like lawn mowers, they bark at ours as well.

Wait, your neighbor put up an alarm system when your boyfriend or whoever is outside in your yard? That's F'ed up, and they should point their motion sensor lights (which I'm assuming is what they have) on their own property. Hopefully when you get that privacy fence put up you won't have any more problems. I had a dog (probably more than 1) that always had to be put in when mowing, or when I had my quad or dirtbike out.
