Post her ped up and we can try and help. Most likely she is an Am. bully and you can get her correctly registered with ABKC pretty easily. Just because she's not an APBT doesn't mean she's a mutt. I LOVE my bullies!! I would love to see pics as well

You were very clear. Once when I walking my dogs these kids came up and they were like "cool, nice bulldog" and their dad was like no kids that's a "pit bull" Lol call them bulldogs some people will be lost because when they hear bulldog they think of the english bulldog or something small non athletic and wrinkly. So like always be ready to answer questions on why you don't call your dog a bluenose or whatever it is that person thinks they should be called.

So...

Let me get this straight bc I am a little confused here to say the least. (not trying to jack your thread here but its along this line, hope its ok )

My pup has UKC registration papers, and I just double checked to see the exact wording: "American Pit Bull Terrier".

I read what the AKC says is the standard for (however they word/ name it), American Pit Bull, or... I apologize bc I just read all those standards, and names, and I'm not recalling them in my brain right now, but...

So he's not considered a genuine/ real ABPT (he's certainly not show worthy) unless he falls into the AKC standards? I'll read around some more bc wow, I realize that I know (close to) nothing.

LOLOLO @ davidandluna's avi very cute!

AKC doesn't accept APBT into their breed registry. We're you meaning UKC or ABKC? Either way just because the papers say APBT that doesn't meant your dog is. Just because your dog fits UKC standards doesn't mean it is either. Bloodline is really the only way to tell. Feel free to post the ped and somebody that knows more what their talking about than me can tell you more. I'm a bully girl. I'm clueless when it comes to the APBT.

AKC register American Staffordshire Terriers not APBT.

Your dog should be called what it's bloodlines represent. The AmBully is shown by the ABKC. The APBT is UKC. There is a standard and if you go to their websites you can see which your dog fits for where it should be shown. It's what bloodlines make up your dog for you to know what breed it is, the UKC incorrectly registers APBT cause they want money and more dogs means more money, even If your dog would not be shown by them. How they look that designates what club you should show or compete with. Most UKC APBT would not do well with the ADBA shows because its a different style of dog.

Basically what are your dogs bloodlines you can only tell the breed by knowing the bloodlines not which registry took your money.

A dog should be called what its function represents not by what papers or registry dictates as..

After all, a common method of naming a breed back when in the early days was by region and function.. Sometimes by function size, function region, name of person declared as founder.. Never by fashion or popularity aka modern registry.

Purely black in white in Bulldogs.. Do a search, not going into it again.

Yeah... I've been searching and reading and reading and... when you search something like 500 things pop up and then must be sorted through. I don't have that many hours in a day to read through all the threads to ascertain the tid-bits of info for which I am interested.

Sorry for the inconvenience, ffs...

If one cannot be bothered in doing their own research in quest for knowledge than you cannot expect another to be bothered in giving you a in depth answer. It is all a matter of opinion or up for dismissal unless one takes their own time in finding the truth then its their own time being used to come up with an answer rather than just having it given to them.

I believe in hard work, dedication and the ability to build up from your own.. AKA not being given nothin'.. Thus, it is no inconvenience but for yourself as you refuse to take the time to piece together the puzzle.

Knowledge is not obtained by a post, a question on the internet. Its obtained by first hand experience and the ability to go through your history and utilize what is already there. It is life long.

Thank you to the ppl that offered an explanation, I appreciate you taking a minute to help me.

Everyone learns differently. Perhaps some links sometimes would be good too (If you're not feeling like giving an answer). All that has been done here is to (try to) intimidate me with your vast extensive knowledge, and keep me from asking important questions for which I should already have the answers for? Then what is the point of the forum? What is the point of "donating" or trying to be a part of a community that I am not able to be a part of... it's a pretty silly concept, then.

I sent a PM to reddog saying, "its like when you buy a new car, the car of your dreams, only to have ppl tell you what you really have is "crap" or not anything like what you thought. A little finesse here would go a long way". Yes, then it becomes this overwhelming search for THE correct info.

I seek out answers for myself always. I thought this was a "friendly community". A safe place to ask questions, receive help, glean information... wow. How disappointing.

what KM was getting at is that this topic has come up several times in the past. its not that he was tryin to talk down to u... the search he was suggesting was the search tab here in our forum. now, this is a friendly forum by all means but if ur gunna take this as a serious insult then u need to grow thicker skin... besides thick skin when owning this breed of dog is a must.

here's some threads that will help explain APBT vs AST VS AmBully and the different registries.

So just because somebody tells you that the new car that you just bought and "love" is a piece of crap is gonna make you love it less?? No way! Trust me I know. People tell me that my car is shit because it doesn't keep up with the bad boys but let me tell you I didn't spend $60,000 for a hunk a junk I don't care what anybody says!
