My dog got a cut on his leg.

So my pup (6 months) got a cut on the inside of his hind leg I'm planning on showing him in abkc shows his first show was supposed to be this Saturday but I will hold off on it till he is 100% healed now the question is if he gets a scar or something will that affect his performance in shows ?

Yea I was just looking into that ill pick it up on my way home from work and it's not too bad it's like a round cut it looks like a hole or something but I massage his leg around the cut and move his leg to see if it hurts him but he doesn't mind me doing so..thanks for the help.

It technically shouldn't affect his show performance. Its on the inside of the leg and its not like they stick their head under there and look around. And as long as its not huge and all scabbed over he should be fine to show this weekend.

Dogs show with crate sores all the time and I personally think crate sore are much more of an eyesore than a cut they got from being a dog.

Thanks I completely agree I just wasn't sure either way I'd rather hold off on showing him this weekend we will still attend though I can't wait!

I agree with crate sores as well I've seen a few dogs shown that way..

Do you show ?

Oh dude, I forgot to tell you my little show dog got a puncture wound on his head! My rescue bit him over a piece of bone that I had accidently left out. Needless to say I check for things that can be fought over much better now. But used Nu-Stock and Neosporin and A&D to reduce scarring!

If you used the nustock while healing it should grow back. But if you are using it after the fact and the scars are already present then it may take much longer or may not work at all.

No - scars are not considered in Judging Conformation - The breed standards for working dogs usually specify that scars, broken teeth or other damage that evidence injuries sustained during a working career (often termed ‘honourable scars and injuries') are not to be penalized in conformation showing. So, go and have fun....and don't worry.

Let me suggest Furazone - Nitrofurazone Ointment - Statelinetack.com

There is nothing on the market better than this to grow hair back on a horse or a dog...
