How old for prong collar?

My puppy just turned 4 months today, and I'm struggling to leash train him. He's very stubborn and hard headed. I've training dogs to walk on the leash successfully without using leash corrections, and I tried to train Duke this way, but I've spent hours trying to gain his focus on me while walking with no success.

So here's the thing, I know how to use leash corrections but I'm not very familiar with the equipment. I've begin training him using pops on the leash, but I feel that he needs something more to aid in his training. I know Duke would hurt himself with a slip collar, because he throws himself forward so hard and fast that he chokes out bad even with a simple nylon collar. I swear he feels nothing.

I've always felt intimidated by prong collars, but I've met a lot of people that recommend them for dogs 6+ months to help aid their leash training. My puppy is far from sensitive and can be a real butt head. What are your opinions for using a prong collar on a 4 month old puppy? I'll research how to fit it and use it correctly, if you all think it's okay.

I would never recommend using one on a dog that age. Too young. Wait till at least 6 months.
When walking him and he starts pulling just stop walking and turn the other direction. Keep this up and he will learn that when he pulls, you stop. That pulling gets him nowhere. That has always worked for me with pups. Also trying playing a good long game of tug, or fetch and then go for a walk. Tire him out first.

Wen he is older and it's still not resolved, perhaps you can try a prong.
