Blue nose

Hey guys. i just started here. I just recently added Gracie(my blue nose/razor edge female) to my family. I basically rescued her from people who left her in an attic with no food and no water and no air conditioning. She is such an AMAZING dog. Well behaved for how old she is. The people who gave me her told me she was already 6 months but I have had her for about 3 months now and I honestly think she was younger. Anyways, this is my second pitbull i have owned in my life time but she is very high maintenance. She recently tore apart a stuffed animal and ate the stuffing and had a BAD allergic reaction to the stuffing. We took her to the vet and he gave her a shot of steroids and told us to put her on benedryl. so we did. Its been almost 3 weeks since that happened and she still has these weird bumps on her and fur loss. I got her oatmeal bath and natural wipes to wipe her down since her vet said blue nose have horrible allergies. What can I do to help those bumps more and to prevent her loosing fur? Also she has horrible seporation anxiety and we are trying to crate train her when we are not home. She tore open her face trying to get out of her cage, so i got her a new cage where she cant hurt herself anymore. What can we do to help her with that? or does it just play out as time goes by. Also( i know this is a lot) but ive never had such a dog like her) she is basically potty trained but sometimes purposely pees in the house right infront of us even after being out for a walk. How should we handle her pottying in the house? Hope somebody has answers for me! Thanks guys!

First off welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it. Second there is no such thing as a blue nose pitbull. It's a back yard breeder term. All it means is the color of the dogs nose. And without papers there isn't any way to tell exactly what you have. I would call her a mix to avoid any bsl issues. Sorry to hear about the toy. Mine aren't allowed them bc they shred them. Did she pass the stuffing? How often does she go out for potty training? Our boy used to pee in front of us but I just shortened the time between breaks and worked up to longer again. There's lots of threads on crate training also. Do you give her anything to keep her busy while you're gone? The black Kongs stuffed and frozen are a good crate toy. They stay busy getting all the yummy out. Mine have special crate bones they get. They only get them in the crates. Have you tried leaving a radio or TV on while you're gone and covering the crate?

Make sure the dog knows that pissing in the house is not an option. Haha pretty hard to do and not feel like your being mean, but it's a dog and you have to be firm. No compromise lol

thank you for the advice. i will try to cover her cage with something. and I actually just got her a kong today. she hasnt had much interest in it yet and i left it in her cage while i went to work but i dont think she touched it. and i know my other dogs loved them. and as for the potty training. I take her out(when im home about every 1-2 hrs.). and i do not let her drink or eat about 2 hrs before i put her in the crage and i take her out right before bed also.

She may still need to go out sooner. From what it sounds she's had no training aside from you. When we potty train they get LOTS of praise outside and ignored inside. It's what's worked for us. Ammo was going out every 30 minutes. Now he can hold it for hours. Another thing that worked well for us was potty training bells. My dogs love them. Even my boy who is one picked up on them within minutes and uses them. For me it was any kind of sniffing around we went out. Drink if water out. After meals out. After play out. I can normally have mine potty trained in an absolute MAX of two weeks. Cain was about a week. Ammo a bit longer. We had to interupt play time bc he would play and play be running stop pee and continue.

Thanks!!! Big help. do you will think it will be harder to break the potty issue since she is just under a year? i mean she has been doing better but i would really like for the "accidents" to stop. When i had gotten my previous pit she was already house broken. and well over 2 years old.

I'm sure she will. Consistency is the key. Stick to a schedule. As soon as you're home go out. You basically go back to potty training 101 until she gets it. It may be a little harder, but just be consistent. We play a lot outside and I make them potty before I get the flirt pole or hose out to play. And then put it up and wait a bit to see if the puppy goes again(he doesn't normally but when he was younger he would.)

believe me i know how hard it is to potty train a dog im used to deuce and slate waiting until i go out for a smoke or just to walk them now that i got a puppy again its hard adjusting your daily routine but you gotta do it and like they said stay constant becuz it pays off at the end ..

The Thinder Shirt works wonders on separation issues I had one for Vendetta and I loved it. Over time she didnt need it anymore. I know several people taht have used it and had great results. If you order one I wanted to let you know that they do stretch so I would order a size smaller than you need.
