I do it here and there, just dont over do it. The kibble being hard helps to clean the teeth(to a point).

Some kibble is also coated and by adding water the coating almost turns into a gravey.
Im gonna go read that article now.

I have heard the same thing as Koonce, the hard kibble alone promotes healthy teeth. I don't see why you wouldn't add water here and there though. My dogs drink tons of water, so I never thought it would be a problem, I think they drink when they're bored lol.

I have done this always, both dry kibble and even in my raw, a cup per feeding especially in the winter because a lot of dogs will not get enough water intake, summer couldn't hurt with temps. I also keep my hounds outside year around also.I like it.

Sorry didn't finish my post, another reason I do this especially during training is because of the additives, I use bone meal, flaxseed oil, fish oil and special performance supplement for muscle devolpment and I think because of I add water it makes through the system faster. Just my belief and it works I think.

Sometimes at work Thrall lies under my desk and kind of laps at his water, and jiggles his tongue like he's playing with it, then he will sigh and take a few sips. Like he'll drink it but only because theres nothing better to do lol.

i personally dont add the water to Peanuts food because he drinks on average 6 quarts of water a day..we have to clean and refill his 2 qt water bowl at least 3times a day..more on hot days or days that we have him out working. if you add water to the kibble and worry about the teeth getting dirty..brush them..we do peanuts he thinks its a blast a treat even he gets on his back legs and front legs on the sink and lets us brush them

I know it is a little off topic, but I was thinking about adding chicken broth to the food. Would this be a yay or nay idea? Not a lot but just a little to add a little moisture to it, not soggy but moist.

another alternative to adding canned chicken broth is to make your own chicken broth. Its not difficult and its better for them than the canned broth. Just boil water and chicken. you can use a whole chicken or buy boneless chicken pieces. bring the water to a boil and then reduce it to simmer for about a half an hour. After its cooked let it cool and cut up the chicken and leave it in the broth. now you have an all natural brth with zero sodium and dogs love it because it adds flavor instead of just adding water to the kibble, plus they get the pieces of chicken which is a real treat rather than plain kibble.
