Lightbulb Grain Free

Recently, I heard that feed your dog, long term, grain free food can lead to heart disease? I heard the doctor I work with mention it to another doctor, but haven't had time to ask her, or research it. I might research tonight on my over night shift.
Anyone hear of this?

They’re researching a possible link between grain free food and cardiomyopathy in dogs. There’s a correlation they’re studying but it’s not causative. There could be other factors involved but the preliminary results warrant further study. That’s my understanding.

I’m not switching any of my dogs. My learned motto is feed what works. Pretty much anything you feed can cause some type of problem if you do enough research.

thank you! I'd hate to switch because my one dog does well on grain free. Her skin becomes pruitic when I feed a non grain free food

I agree, feed what works is best. My dog is grain free: when I brought him home from the Humane Society, he was gassy with skin problems. I switched to grain free and voilà, no problems.
The only time I give him plain boiled rice and chicken is if he has diarrhea and that’s only happened once, he was back on his regular grain free food 4 days later.
