get another vet asking him a bunch of questions before even making an appt. that was rude as hell. I had a vet once get mad at me for naturally healing ring worm in a foster of mine ... well guess what she was healed and that vet was replaced...
I have 2 main vets and one for emergency ...
Both my vets approved of a totally raw Diet for Duece when he was 6 weeks old as he was yellow and weak ... if done proper and mimics that of being fed in the wild ... he's a good strong boy.
His allergies are inherited as my alternative vet said due to poor breeding of these dogs ( she loves pits lol )... and the natural program he's on now has worked wonders in just 2 weeks ... no strong medications, steriods nada ...
A vet should be willing to listen and take into consideration how you would like to raise your pup ... one thing I love about my regular vet is he is open to learn and research anything my alternative medicine vet suggests nor does he try to make me buy things or force test on me that are unneccessary...
He wanted me to put Duece on meds and Z/D... gave him the other vets ideas he said go for it and keep me posted as he knows I'm a strong believer in natural healing
unless it involves pain then bring on the narcs lol ...
good luck on finding a new vet ~! glad ur pup is ok

Thanks everyone!

I think I have a guy in mind. Its hard in my area to find a good Vet. If anyone has any suggestions for a good Vet in lower Delaware fill me in. I do talk to customers about Vets and they all give me mixed opinions. My aunt used this office before so do local organizations but I think the Vet has retired and the one I saw was fairly new or at least a different guy.

I think TOTW has 35% protein, could that be to much for a 8 week old pup?

I rotate like I said but I am thinking about cutting back on raw for at least a few months. Remember, he was running wild and I doubt he was rummaging in garbage cans considering I live in a home owners development and the cans are setup to deter wild animals and stray cats which we have a huge problem with in this area. Therefore I wanted to transition the guy from what in theory he was most likely eating in a less harsh manner. I know he was eating live prey or scavenging cause he was a bit impacted/bloated and his first poop after his warm bath to get rid of his fleas had lots of fur and junk in it. Not that I go looking at dog poop but I had to be sure of what I was getting into

And you know what really gets me rolling about this Vet is the fact he used e Coli as his main example why not to feed raw. Nutritionist or not the guy should know better than to believe-quoting his words-" doomed to e coli ".

Worse case scenario with humans make at the least local headlines and is very rare. When it occurs they attempt recalls. Dogs can handle e Coli greater than humans so it would need to be a pretty bad case of e coli in which again I dont feed raw beef to begin with!

His other argument to the fact was dogs could handle it when they werent domesticated but not anymore.

Evolution takes how many thousands of years? We been feeding kibble, in his preference Science Diet,...for how long?

I do not like feeding pups a high protien kibble because the other nutrients are also thrown off it isn't necessarily due to the protien level itself as compared to what a pup needs. I'm saying that from everything I've read.

However, raw certainly can successfully be fed to pups if done correctly. I knwo people who raise their pups on raw and the y are fine. However you really have to know what you are doing and make sure it is balanced. If you want to stick with RAW do it right and go on forums and to a vet that will explain how to do a balanced diet for pups.

If you don't you are better off IMO feeding a high quality normal protien such as Innova regular formula not the EVO.

I hope that helps.

Raw feeding isnt "actually" feeding raw meat is it? you cook it first right? I am seriously considering going raw but i need to know what else to add other then meats to balance the nutrition out so dobbs gets all the healthy stuff too.
