Exclamation Found a worm in my dog's droppings!

I got him on a dewormer right away but in all my research on Google I can't find a picture of a worm that looks like this. Maybe it's immature?

Here is a crude picture I drew of what it looked like. It was white and approximately 1/2 inch in length.

Any idea what kind of worm this is? Doesn't look like any pictures I've seen of tape, round, hook or whip worms.

I put him on Safe-Guard since it's all I have. Will fenbendazole based wormers kill this?

Sorry mods, meant to put this in Health Section.

Wait, I thought invermectin was for heartworm prevention only? I have him on Invermectin 0.05% solution from JR enterprises, just started him on it about 4 days ago...if invermectin is a broad spectrum dewormer that may explain why a live worm showed up in his stool?

Same here. Ivermec and Safeguard or Panacur. It's the best stuff out there.
ALL my litters get Safeguard for their dewormer. Adults get Safeguard every now and again for prevention purposes. I haven't had problems in over a decade. (Safeguard is good for Giardia.)

Well I'm sure the safeguard will take care of it then.

I'm giving him 1.5ml of 0.05% invermectin every month as heartworm preventative...is this enough prevention to control intestinal worms as well?

If your dog is 75 lbs, that should do it. I use 1%. Dosage is 1cc (ml) per 100. Which for the mathmatically impaired comes to 10 lbs per line on a 3 cc/ml syringe.

That really should do it for you, but if your dog is less than 75 lbs, you are giving too much I believe. I don't know where you live, but over here there really isn't much of a problem with intestinal worms, so only on occasion do I 'safeguard' my adults.

I'm in Central Virginia in the country next to a river and with the amount of dead animals he finds and chews on it's no wonder he ingested worms. I've found him with a dead mouse the cat killed, in his mouth, twice!

The 0.05% invermectin recommended 1cc per 40 lbs body weight and my dog weighs 55 lbs. I actually gave him closer to 1.2cc, not 1.5, sorry.

oh yeah, that can be a problem. lol.. but look at how much fun he's having! My dogs don't usually go anywhere but the fenced in area of the yard, though we have 30 some acres. I just don't trust them chasing other animals and losing them for a day or two. I can have problems with the wild going into their kennels though. Mice, moles, an occasional rat... Once, one by one, night by night, 3 baby possums wandered into Dee's kennel for her food. From the looks of it, she had a great time torturing them as guts and blood were thrown all over the place and hanging off the wires. A few times snakes had made their way inside kennels just to be picked up, shaken up and tossed around until they were in pieces. They don't eat their prey, they just like to kill em. lol.. God forbid a groundhog or rabbit comes in.

Tapeworm in dogs are flea eggs. The cycle goes.
Dog eat flea, Flea creates tapeworm, Tapeworm hits ground creating flea again.
Need to get your dog strongit from your vet & start flea protection

Best of luck

Weird. I've never seen a flea on him and he doesn't itch.

You may need something different to rid him of tapewrm.

Check the base of his tail and see if you see any fleas. He may not be infested. Maybe he just has a few.

Its doesnt mean that he doesnt have tapeworms.
Again my suggestion is to have him tested get him on strongit and go at least from there
