He is also half bully so he does not have the longest muzzle as well, I started cutting back a little bit on his food to get him in a little bit better shape thinking that this could help. I avoid any work in mid day, I do stuff with him in the afternoon after I get back from work but the second we got ouside his tongue is out..
Another question I am about to buy cowhides for the poles do they really work and make the dogs crazy for them or is it only on some dogs? lol I just dont want to spend big bucks on something only my chihuahua is going to enjoy lol thanks in advance happy weekend everyone
IMO coat color has a HUGE singnificance, My Rottie can go up and down the carpeted stairs like crazy... when he starts getting a bit bored I bust out the laser light and he does double
time... but on a sunny day ( even if its about 60-70 degrees) after only 20 minutes of walking he's knocked out and would never consider sitting or laying anyhere where there is no shade. ( but now i wonder, is he tired or does he just LOOK tired because of the panting....hmmm)
I honestly dont understand how they made the evolutionary cut.
Temperament.. easy to train
but if their coat does not allow them to be out in the sun for long, and it's not thick enough to remain outdoors in winter ( or at least I never tried ), how did they make it?
I would assume man has kept them sheltered these past thousands of years ( Rotties and man go WAYYYYYY back) after seeing their usefulness.
Ok, so I have already established that in my novicre opinion coat color makes a huge difference by observing my own Rottweilerexercising indoors and on cloudy days compared to sunny days where the temperature is not very high)
I have been independently studying thermal conductivity this last year and , for instance the color white ( ...d*mn i knew i bookmarked the graph but i can not find it)
..anyhoo it would have shown you the huge difference in solar heat absorption of white vs. black, although this was mainly for the purposes of thermal mass and passive solar energy, you would have understood the significance, I guess you will just have to take my word for it.
As for the muzzle size, you are correct about that as well, big difference.
also keep in mind this is the beginning of the spring, i myself was hot enough to go inside and stay out of the sun for a moment today and it barely reached 70, if this were in September toward the end of the summer, i would welcome the coolness of the 70 degrees.. Its been a long cold winter ( dont care about records, every winter is a cold long one), it takes some getting used to, for him as well as you. more heat, more activity- all of it bearing down in a short period of time. next time make him a nice gin and tonic on ice, dont forget the lime.
as for the cowhide...only one way to find out, isnt there? My Rottie goes nuts for the laser pointer, my pit is only mildly amused by it. just got to see. my pit would sell me out for a nice ham bone with bits of meat attached, my rottie , im guessing prefers more Kosher meals. Oy Vey!
