disturbing dry petfood information

saw this......

dogs are primarily meat eaters designed to eat and utilizr primarily meat product. Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy uses CORN as its primary ingredient. the Chicken is only listen first because its precooked weight places it there. once this food was cooked, the corn meal easily became the main ingredient. the chicken was about 70% water weight, so once that was removed, it became a pretty insignificant ingredient.

its one of the dirty tricks of the pet food manufacturers, and it makes unaware consumers think a meat being listed first is a good thing. its not, unless there is an accompanying named meat meal listed also before any non meat ingreadients. so, a person should know what they are getting when they read the label.
Meat vs. Meal Comparison

im looking to switching my dogs dry puppy to largebreed food for quality food. The Iams food iv been giving her is crap after the research i did. Any one have any puppy to large breed suggestions that wont break the bank

P.S. im expecting my male pup to be 50 plus pounds considering her farther was a ''Big boy'' about 70lbs and his mother was about 40lbs so thats why im feeding largebreed puppy food

anyone know if wellness food is good?

I know some say not to feed puppy food but I have Tidus starting on Diamond. It's not the top of the line but is definitely not on the bottom. I bought a 40# bag of the lamb and rice for another dog I had and it was only $26.99 I believe. The 20# bag of puppy food I got him is $19.99. The 40# bag was around $3X.99.
My grandmother feeds the other dogs Kirkland which seems to be a decent one. She mentioned they have a puppy food as well. I'm not sure if they actually do or not though. That might be another one to check into and it's I think a dollar cheaper than Diamond.
That's where I'm at with my stuff right now since I'm on a wonderful minimum wage budget. lol I'm looking into raw for when Tidus is older but for now that's what he's getting. Good luck! :]

FYI - I feed Kirkland and my research has lead to it being produced by Diamond.

They do have a Puppy version which is what Sasha has been on since day 1.

It also gets an A+ rating on the food rating sites

I always wonder if foods like Kirkland get an A+, foods like Nature's Variety must be off the scale. Me, I like a good all-stages food like NV, used to feed Canidae until they changed it, Taste of the Wild, etc. Wellness is a good one, too, although I heard a rumor that Proctor & Gamble now owns them and some of the other good foods as well, so we'll have to see.

I also heard rumors of that as well. I'm not the best with all the dog foods and who makes what, but I was told that they bought all of Nature's Variety.
