Eating Tips

We just brought home a new puppy a few days ago. She will be 10 wks old tomorrow. She is a very good puppy (knock on wood) She usually lets me knwo when she needs to go out. And today is my second day of switching over from Purina Puppy Chow to Avoderm. I have been giving her 1/2 scoop 4-5 times a day. I have been reading and see that the suggested amount is 1-2 cups a day. Now I mix 25% Avoderm and 75% PPC for a few more days then I will bumb it up to half and half until I have fully switched to Avoderm. Now ive noticed that shes been eating all on the food since I started mixing them, she wouldn't eat a whole scoop of the Purina. Now for mainly my question... How important is a feeding schedule? I try to keep around the same time everyday that I feed her, sometimes life just doesn't cooperate with us...and sometimes she will go to her bowl and paw and it before it time to feed, and of course I feel like i shouldn't deny her food so i give her a scoop. Now is this just as bad a free feeding? Thanks for your input guys!

What a cute puppy!! I would not feed when the puppy demands food that will set up bad behaviors for the future. At 10 weeks you might have to fee 3 times a day till about 16-18 weeks then back off to twice a day and that might solev your problem. Crate training and feeding go hand in hand. Here is some info to read about feeding and crate training. If you have more question ask and

Thank you so much!! Since she is demanding food should I try bumping it up to like 3/4 a cup each time 3x a day instead of 1/2 almost 5x? Now the fish oils, her coat seems to be very silky and soft but I do live in Arizona! So do you suggest I use fish oil, how often? The Avoderm dog food says it contains avacado for the coat..
Thank you for the links. Verrry imfomational! Learning TONS of new things each day!!
