My concern is why is your friend feeding three times aday?
Dog so not need to eat that much unless it is a pup unders 4 months of age and that even to high of age.
It is fine to feed both. Now some are going to tell you that you can not mix kibble and raw as they digest differently .. well that is correct and incorrect. Digestion is the same in any system. But the difference is that RAW is already hydrated w/ moisture so no need to add water. Well on KIBBLE you should add water to start the hydration process. You must remember if you take a piece of kibble put it into a small amount of water and watch is grow. Thats what happens in the dogs system and this is why dogs can get bloat, a possible deadly problem b/c the system can not digest in a proper time so the body sits on the food that is in the stomach. Dogs need to only eat what is necessary for there system to sustain itself.
So with that if you want to add RAW into your dogs kibble please remember to add water as well. Let the kibble sit for a few minutes, once you see the swelling start you can go and feed the meal. All food at that time will digest the same. But also remember to lower your count of how much kibble you feed. B/c by adding more protein (meat) into the meal the dog system has to work hard to break down the protein.
If you need anymore info. please dont hesitate to ask
