Hello friends
Thank you for helping each other here) do you think a dog can be friends with a cat and live in the same house?

Hello Lamont, yes they can. I've had a cat with dogs for years. They'll even play together sometimes. It all depends on the animals temperment.you don't have to do much except an occasional correction when they're first introduced. Their antics will make you laugh, believe me. Good luck and welcome.

Welcome to the forum Lamont, I agree, not only can they live in the same house but they can be best buds. Will they is another story. Introduce them slowly and not forced. Let them decide if they want to be together in the same room. Read both of their body languages and be prepared to separate them. Try not to be anxious about the meeting as they will both sense that right away.

Definitely! My 6 year old dog welcomed 2 cats into our home and doesnt bother them at all. He doesnt want them all over him and will move away if they try to catch his tail etc.. but is more than safe around the cats

Dealing with this now. Gimlet is so excited to play with the cats, but they Definately don't want to right now. Only 1 has braved the playful nature of our blockhead. They have their own space and can get away from each other if they want.

Lady was our previous dog and she was so chill and gentle when it came to the cats. Gimlet is a change for all of us.

Hopefully a good change. Give them time. They'll work it out and learn each other's personality, if one doesn't care to play with the other, over time they'll probably just live together peacefully. As long as you lay the law down about how rough they can play. Enjoy.
