The whole shore front for our state is at or below sea level. So the last time we had a tide that was 3 feet lower than this- they made the movie "the perfect storm." all the shore side of southwestern CT was flooded with 6-8 foot waves. Not to mention, we are in an estuary. LI will get hammered. Tri state area is in direct line but let's see. The actual peak will begin in a couple of hours. We have a tornado watch and the wind Is bananas. Not 115 like nC but we have 90 mph winds. But if it stays like this, we will be cool. As long as we have power. Up here, that's all wE worry about lol. On a hill so I'm not worried about flooding. But I'm in the woods, so trees and power lol. We have water, propane hot plate burners, food, etc. We will be good.

Ha thats good man hope it stays! Yeah Myrtle Beach had 10ft + high waves, a few reports say up to 18 ft at times but didn't really cause much damage. Most of what we got was your typical minor house damage, some flooding in real low areas and power outages.

Personally i think the media has hyped this storm up beyond what it should be. Granted any hurricane can do damage but comparing a 1 to a 5 is pretty ridiculous..And calling this storm the "storm of the century" is pretty bold statement. lmao

Yea that plus the real threat is the flooding. The tide is supposed to be about 13 ft. The record high we have had was 10. We will make direct contact. It's not the actual storm that's destructive, it's the fact that we will have alot of flooding and power outages.

I'm about 30 minutes inland from the beach. That sucks about the power company.

How far inland are you? We have the extreme warning for the whole dang state but hey at least it went to a category one. The power company said if the power goes out they won't restore till the storm is over lol. Dammit

Yeah we had brief power outages, each one lasting no more than 30 - 45 minutes, some trees down, rivers were high but didn't over flow. We got about 2 or so inches of rain in about an hour. From the looks of it i really don't think you'll have to worry too much, been keeping an eye on it since my dad works in Delaware but hes going to be getting about what we did down here.
