Ok i hope this is the right section, and its probably a dumb question but i want to make sure i do it right.
I'm making a spring pole for my pup Bruno, he's 8 months old and absolutely LOVES to play tug. so i went to home depot and got some stuff to make it. i got a garage door spring thats rated at 110lbs which seams to be good if not even stiffer than most people who start at like 80lbs from what i've read. but my issue is its long, about 2 or 3 feet and it seems to stretch too much, i'm afraid its going to snap and i stopped him (which he did not like! lol he did not want to stop!)
the set up is about a 3 foot chain thats wrapped around a big tree branch, a heavy duty quick link and then the garage door spring, another quick link and then the rope that hes tugging. i have it low enough so hes on the ground and just pulling. but it seems to stretch too much and i'm really afraid its going to snap. Maybe the length of the spring is deceiving me, but i'm just really really afraid its going to snap and hurt him so i stopped and want to make sure i got the right spring before i let him play.
This is the spring i got. they only had a small assortment of smaller 6-10" springs and they were all under 20lbs and then one porch swing that was 320lbs but i thought that would be too much. now i'm wondering if i should get that one.
