Flirt pole tips/tricks... Help!

So I just built a flirt pole for John Wayne and havnt got much time yet to play with it but I'm looking for tips and tricks to maybe help encourage him to play with it more as he isn't showing much interest. He is a year old now and still very playful but did I wait to long to try this out?

Ecko refused to chase a toy when I first made mine. So I used a pig ear for the lure for several months. Once he got the hang of it I switched it to a floppy toy and now he chases it no problem. Some people use cow hide as a lure and that seems to work too.

I'll have to try that.. How do you attach your "baits" to the rope on the pole?

I look through the pig ear bin and find one with a hole in it. Tie it to the rope and let fly. If you can't find a pig ear with a hole, most cow ears come with a hole in it, and you could try that instead.
Most things can just be tied to it.
