prong collar

what( if their is)is the proper way the prong collar should be warn. what i mean by this is should the prongs be on the back of the neck, the side of the neck, or under the chin? right now i have it to where the live ring points to my shin(anywhere between my ankle and knee) i know how to fit a prong collar, im just curious if i've been doing it wrong or is it just personal preference. and aslo what do you do when your dog is to the point where the collar is too small but if you add a link its to big?

The prong collar sits on top of the neck.

The prongs go all around except on the right side of the neck where it is just the chain part. That way when you yank the dog to correct him he can move. If the chains behind the neck or below it, it's hard to yank and correct

My dogs prong collar chain is to the right side. However it doesn't stay to the top of his neck it keeps falling down. If i take another link of it will be to tight. Should it be that tight or am i out of luck?
