Started PetSmart Training Last Night!

Just thought I'd give you guys my take on Laylas first class at Pet Smart. She really loved puppy play time. The class only has 3 puppys in it which I think is great! More one on one with the trainer. The trainer seems pretty cool! She is Pet Smarts regional trainer. There is an English Spaniel and a Golden Retriever in the class with us....Layla plays very nice with them so I'm happy about that. All in all seems to be a good experience as of right now.

I'll keep you guys posted!

She is almost 17 weeks old. Once the pups have their third distemper they can start classes there. The price is right 109.00 so its very affordable. I think almost every puppy class is setup pretty similar. The trainer is pretty much there to show you the correct way to teach commands and answer questions. Most the training is done at home by you!

Peanutsmommy went to petsmart with her dog for training. Maybe she can chime in and give her experience.

Peanut is about to graduate petsmart intermediate class there next wednesday. The classes were always small. He is not continuing on to the advanced class at petsmart though because he had a really good trainer but she is leaving us. She is now training at the zoo Now I have to find a new trainer but after we move.

Petsmart has pretty practical training. You dont get to learn tricks. Mostly you learn how to handle your dog in public and how to get your dog to listen to you. Peanut did learn alot in the class. Also, Peanut can be DA and the trainer worked around that with him and he actually seemed to make progress. The last few classes he has not shown any DA.

I hope Layla enjoys class and learns alot

I don't have a petsmart here, but I do have a Petco, and I was thinking about doing classes with skye, but she needs all her shots....they cost $100.00 for 6 wks and they meet every sunday, they have other classes and the one that I'm very interested in is the CGC training, so when she goes takes the test she would be familair with it and pass with flying color hopefully.

Peanut had trouble with a female boxer in his beginner class. It alays would come up when he was laying down and clobber his head. After that dog his DA showed up. I think he is doing a little better now though. He was very good last night with a few dogs.

Puppy play time sounds like fun! I hope she has lots of fun.

We looked into PetSmart and PetCo classes but when I was looking, the classes seemed too big for the space available.

We took Peanut to a regular training place instead.

We were just at Petsmart yesterday and we were talking to one of the trainers. Let me know how the class works out because I am looking into getting Capri into one sometime in May. Good Luck!
