Many of the things we teach our dogs will make teaching other things easier, but its not really so important the dog "sit" or "shake".

How to Poop money. How to Make dinner. How to Drive the car. How to fast forward commercials so I don't have to come out from under my covers and fast forward them when I'm watching the DVR and how to make coffee. #firstworldproblems

In all seriousness Mel knows a bunch of tricks. My favorite is touch cause he comes running all proud pup to come touch no matter where he is The one I love which he doesn't get yet is jumping into my arms. He just hasn't got it yet and then hurt his paw so we had to stop trying that one lol. Gonna start up again in a few weeks

Come, stay, take it, leave it, down.
Charlie knows a few "tricks": Down, stay, sit, wait, crawl, come, "okay" and "get it".

Also, Bam Bam obeys:
Sit
Wait
Leave it
Speak
Get off

I'm trying to teach him not to stare at people when they eat, but 'don't beg' pretty much just gets him to walk somewhere else and peer at the eater from behind furniture.

I'm with Ames on this one. Totes would love to have a dog make coffee and be my butler.

Sit , down, stay, are the pretty standard ones.

Can I use the other two for training dog owners?

Because think mandatory training on "leash your effing dog" and "carry a baggie so that you can clean up after your effing dog"

Can we train those please? I'm am not opposed to you aversion training for ignorant owners.

For us it's just a command that gets my boy to come to me and initiate contact. I hold 2 fingers out and say touch and he touches my fingers with his nose. Originally one of my first trainers I Used would want me to have Mel touch as I was walking down the street and Mel saw a dog he didn't like. Yeah that didn't work out lol but Mel can touch beautifully now lol. You can then take it to the next level turning lights on and off or pulling open a cabinet. Once thy know touch it's easy to build off.

I want him to be slow and calm. So by calling him when he is far away to come touch my boy runs super fast skids to a halt for a soft light nose bump with my fingers. I want him to amp himself up and know he can calm himself down and be easy!!!

Thanks Ames - that one sounds really useful. At 9 months old, do you think it's too late to teach my puppy?
