Need House Breaking Help for New Rescue

Hi All, I'm new to this forum but I rescued a 13 month female from the local animal control about a week ago. She's doing pretty well on most things but continues to poop in the house... even when she does fine going potty outside. Any suggestions on how to get this to stop?

I would go back to housetraining basics. Take her out frequently, especially after eating, playing or sleeping. You can use a crate as a good way to prevent soiling in the house. Make sure you're keeping her on a daily routine so it's easier to predict when she's going to need to go outside. Don't scold when she does go. If she's doing it every 4 hours, take her out every 3.

Only one thing to add to BC's great advice, make sure to praise her when she does poop outside. I know, it sounds silly to say "Good poop! Good girl!", but you need to let her know that you're happy when she does her business outside. That reinforces in her mind that that's where the poop spot is.

If you've only had her a week, just give it some time. Take her to the vet to make sure she doesn't have any intestinal parasites (my adopted girl had ringworms; as soon as I had those cleared up, she was perfectly house broken. I don't think she could hold it before) and like previously suggested, a crate helps a lot.
