2 yr Old Female Staffie

My girlfriend and I recently moved in together, joining her 2 year old Staffie (Frankie) and my 4 year old chocolate lab (Aero). Unfortunately, my girlfriend did not seem to put the time or effort into training Frankie unless I was present. There were often times Frankie would challenge both her and I, running away or standing off and barking/growling. She was very rarely socialized as a puppy, while I made sure to socialize Aero as much as I possibly could. They both get along great, playful rough housing which I've begun to limit since Frankie tackled another dog at the off-leash area. Frankie has grown more aggressive to other humans on walks (most recently 2 police officers) and even a friend I had over last week. I really want to believe that these breeds are different than the stereotype they've inherited but these last few months haven't given me a lot of reason to believe so. Anyone's help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You said your self that the dog was not socialized properly so I would start there, that isn't the dogs fault. I would stop letting your dog run around off leash (especially since you do not have full control), that is just asking for trouble. I would start from the beginning with obedience training and socialization. Socialize slowly so you are not putting her in situations that cause her to be scared or uncomfortable. She is probably acting out toward the people because she is not comfortable with them, a lot of dogs can be fearful if they are not socialized properly at a young age. Keep her on a leash in public and don't let strangers touch her, if anything hand them a treat to give her.

What Courter said. Don't blame the breed for your GF's failure to train. it's not too late, just gotta be diligent. Also, don't mistake rough housing for aggression. These dogs do like to play rough and may sound viscous.
