But yes, that absolutely makes sense. Maile is awesome with 'DROP IT'. I made sure that was the first thing she learned cuz I wanted to be able to say it if she was going to eat another animal (good things shes the opposite of DA). Shes good with sit, when I do down I usually hafta have a treat and then put my hand in front of her and drag it down and in front of her for her to go down...and weve been doing well with stay which Im proud to say Ive taught her all of the above (thanks boyfriend...NOT). Im just excited to cement her training and make sure I can give the proper commands. If she does well, Id like to continue her training with some more advanced stuff. Only time will tell but I am SO EXCITED!!!!
Helena is great with drop it and OUT too. OUT has saved her from 3 dog fights! Luckily she was the aggressor in those fights and the other dogs didn't want to have any of it. Because OUT stopped her in her tracks. (thank god) before the fight escalated.
Good luck with the training! I did a class with Helena it was a 10 week course and we had so much fun. There was a graduation at the end and we went on to the next level up. (I didn't continue though since I wasn't showing) But it was an honor because not all of the other dogs made it to novice one, some just went on to advanced beginners.
And I get so many compliments on how much more calm and well behaved she is now. Everyone enjoys being around her much more!
