2 dogs being people and dog reactive

Hey guys,

I have a female year and a half old pitbull mix, as well as a 7 month old golden retriever/lab/beagle mutt (that's our best guess anyway, haha) Anyway, neither of them would hurt any dogs or people, but on walks, as well as while I am sitting in front of my apartment building, they start barking at people and/or dogs as soon as they get too close to me/us.

Also, my mutt (who I got first) has always started barking/howling when he heard somebody walking by our front door, but the pit is starting to pick up on this as well.

What does this behavior mean? What should I do to help fix the situation.

I own the apartment building, so scared tenants are not exactly what I am going for.

Thanks

Hey I'm no expert but maybe you should refrain from walking them together until you can control the trouble maker (the beagle mix). You're going to have to teach them to ignore people. The look command can help. How are they when you walk them are they pulling you?

The pitbull mix pulls, but I have been working on that, and it is getting better. Beagle mix usually wants to sniff the ground and eat the sticks on the ground. Ha.

You need to correct the behavior and make it clear to the dogs that's not ok. I would walk them separately until you control them. What are you currently doing to correct it?

Kind of just yelling "NO" and making them sit. Hard to control 2 dogs at once though. I guess I have to walk them separate for a while.
