Potty training

We have had our pups a week this Saturday. And we are potty training them. I brought them inside a Lil bit ago and the both went pee in the same area inside. My brother continues to tell me that they will never learn. !!!! Made me furious cause its only been a week. I told him it takes time and patience. What are some methods you use? My dad in the past always rubbed the their nose in it and smacked them I haven't smacked them once since they been here. Only a small tap when they jumped on my 2 yr old and 5 month old

How often do they go out? We take our puppy out every 30-45 minutes. We also bought potty training bells for him bc he was a little more difficult the our other dog. When they potty we reinforce "good boy go potty!" Lots and lots of praise. I stay out with ours until he would go potty. Now he is going to the door and ringing the bells when he needs out. We've had 1 accident this week.

Yeah I took my boy out every half hour and started to learn when he had to go. I watched him like a hawk and after a few days he was goos. When we went outside I praised like WAY EXCITED over poop and gave him some cheese and lots and lots of praise when he went. Don't rub his nose in it. That's pointless. If you don't catch them in the act you can't correct it. If you do catch them in the act, immediately say a firm NO take them outside. To the same spot. Every time until they get what your doing. Took my boy a couple days. BUT it was constant and consistent. Your dog is normal especially if you haven't brought them out as often.

I like the bell idea. Gets the pup involved. I was always worried Mel would do it I just get me to take him out, but he still does that without a cute bell.

Yea ammo is learning bells and door means outside lol. He rang them about 20 different times in 30 minutes and just wanted to lay in the sun. Wouldn't potty. Lol Cain does it on rare occasions when it's nice.

I take them out every 45 mins. Or right after we play and after they nap. I stay out with them 90% of the time. But I'm a stay at home mom with a baby and toddler and not always able to go out with them. But I do praise them when they do. My fiancé gave up on the potty training today so its on me to potty train the two pupa and our 2 yr old :/

I would take them out every half hour to start. Ammo doesn't give any signs he needs out that's why we got the bells to help. We've had maybe 2 or 3 accidents since getting the bells 2 weeks ago. I would take him out after he ate, drank, slept, played. Anything.

I would never rub a dogs face in their own urine or smack them. You have to catch them while they are being bad or they won't know what you're punishing them for.

My personal advice is to make your own bitter apple spray and squirt them (NOT mist) in the mouth whenever they need to be corrected. This works with almost any dog, you can also spray things they like to chew on daily and they will avoid it.

Get a crate and keep them in there. Took my puppy one day. They won't soil where they sleep. Take them out every 2-3 hours during the day. If they go outside, praise them and give them treats and let them roam the house for a while. If they don't go, take them directly back inside and in the crate. Take them out every hour until they go
