what breed is my dog and how big will he get?

hi everyone. im new to this website literally registered a few minutes ago lol

i adopted a 5-6 month old puppy/dog a month ago and i was wondering what breed it is. i was told he is a red/blue nose mix but when i got his shots they wrote that he is an amstaff. i dnt know exactly how much he weighs. he does look bigger in some pictures i feel like but my guess is 42-47 pounds. right now he should be 6-7 months old accoring to his previous owners. what do you guys think?
im going to try to figure out how to attach pictures lol hopefully it works.

Welcome! I love his two-face markings.

Bluenose/Rednose mean nothing other than the colour of a dog's nose. Backyard breeders like to use the terms to make their dogs seem special, and uneducated folks think they indicate different types of Pit Bull or something, but they don't. There is only the American Pit Bull Terrier.

That said, blue is exceedingly uncommon in purebred APBTs so your dog is likely not a Pit Bull. If you don't have a pedigree, no one can tell you what breed(s) your dog is, and he's probably not a purebred. Best to refer to his as a mutt.

DNA tests aren't accurate yet, so no, there's no way to find out. I've heard to double the weight at 4 months or add half of the current weight at 6 months, but neither of those are exact. Best way to know would be to look at the parents.

A general rule to guesstimate size is to double the weight at 4 months. Not sure how accurate this is, but I've heard it said by wiser heads than my own, so I'll take it. I know you didn't have him at that age, but maybe you can work with it.

BTW, welcome.

Definitely agree that being blue makes it far less likely that your dog as any APBT in him.(I've only seen maaaaybe 4 blue APBT with no Amstaff or anything in their background) Amstaff or American Bully are far more likely and easier for BYBers to get their hands on. However, there is no way to ever really know for sure unfortunately. A lot of people tote DNA tests but they are notoriously inaccurate.

Mickey looks like a darling. The best advice I have ever been given, and that I will always pass along. Is to love them and train them, and given them a purpose. And that goes for any breed of dog.

My boys purpose is to chase down his ball as fast as possible for as long as possible. lol. He loves that purpose.

what breed is my dog and how big will he get?

He looks awesome!! Who cares what he is, he will be awesome for a long time. He looks very similar to my girl, don't know what she is either. I'm assuming from the 4 month weight my girl will be 50-60lbs. Micky will probably be close to that.

He sure is a cute one, but there are multiple breeds you may confuse as a pit bull. My girl looks similar to your dog and also has green eyes, but I know she is not a pitbull. I just call my dogs bulldog mutts, it's better to just say you have a mutt than try to guess what you think the dog may be. There is nothing wrong with having a mutt either, just don't breed one.
