Okay, we went to yet another park today and had a great time. This time, we went to Panther Creek State Park, which is probably about the half way point between Jessie's house and mine, taking the long way, lol.
This first shot was taken at the bus station around the corner from my house... sorry, couldn't avoid the power lines...I'll see if I can find a different angle tomorrow.
I've been fascinated by this tree that fell some time ago, and I drive by it every day on my way to and from work.
Now, for the fun stuff!
At the very top of the "hill" at Panther Creek State Park... we're 168 feet up above the lake at this point.
This is the first thing I saw at the beginning of our journey. Not sure what kind of tree it was, but clearly oozing sap.
The trail that awaits us!
A dried up "creek bed", layered in shale.
Another angle of the creek bed.
Interesting how this tree grew before it's time ended.
More trail awaiting us
Love the rocks out here, beautiful to me!
Trinity, in all her photogenic glory! She did her own hair.. pretty good for a 2 yr old lol
Trinity and Aiyana together
Tres Hermanas! The three stooges is more like it lol
The four brats together; Robert, Chenoa, Trinity and Aiyana
Trinity insisted I take a picture of her. She kept sitting down on rocks and trees telling me "Mommy, take picture me, please. Cheeseburger Mommy!"
Aiyana again. We came across a tree that grew with a bend in the trunk so we borrowed it for a few minutes.
Trinity wanted to pose like Aiyana, so she needed help. She's only 3 ft tall, after all. Lol
My wanna-be model who never smiles, lol.
The person who usually stays behind the camera, aka me
The Daddy-bear lol
Some mushrooms growing on a tree that fell over
Same 'shrooms, different angle.
Aiyana insisted on posing next to the tree with the mushrooms
Don't let that sweet face fool you!
My goof troop!
Going uphill now
Not sure what kind of rock this is, but it looked cool so I snapped a shot
One of my new favorite pictures!
New life in the making here!
Did I mention this camera has an awesome macro mode yet!?
Almost half way! I was still pretty high up when I took this photo
Wonder how this would look black and white or old photo style...
We found a small stream coming from underground, flowing into the lake after we passed the half way point.
This water was so cold and crisp, and refreshing! We took a break, slurped up some water, and marched on!
I got carried away taking pix here, sorry
This one came out a bit blurry, but figured I'd share anyway
This was the source, in the mid-left of this photo, there's a hole in the ground, and this is where the stream started at.
The stream flowing down into the lake
Dead, hollow tree we came upon.
Another small stream that was down in a huge hole in the ground... I'm guessing about 10 ft down from where I was standing.
This rock where the water seems to be flowing from was bigger than me, and I'm not a small person! Looks like a cave or den of some kind under the rock there.
One more shot.. I was enamored by this place.
I'd been to the park before, but never hiked the trail and got to see these things. After we passed that last stream coming from under the rock, I had to stop photographing because Trinity had fallen asleep, and it got really muddy, slick and steep, all at one time. Yeah, me and the daddy-bear took turns carrying her heavy butt. 35 lbs don't seem like much weight, till you carry it for 4+ miles lol.
