media reports that sound like lying

Check up this report.

Rebecca Royval with the Chattanooga Police Department explained what happened. She said, "He felt his car shake so got out to see what was going on and it was a pit bull chewing on his bumper."

This 3 year old boxer-pit bull mix got out of the fenced area at Mann's Welding and started attacking Officer Clayton Holme's patrol car. The dog chewed off the front bumper, ate part of the paint and even took out two of the tires on this patrol car.

When I see these such reports, in my mind some questions arrive like:

How did the media know it was a pitbull and boxer mix?
How did they get the age?
How is that a vicious dog attacks car bumber instead to go for the people in it?

I really say that this report is a fake.

Have you seen the video of it? its absolutly hilarious! Both dogs involved were having a ball with that cop car.
They knew what breed he was and how old because after they caught the culprit the owners came to get him and told them.

So kind of a bad choice at fake reporting because this time it was all true, but you are making a very valid point.

Down here if its not a white and fluffy its allways reported as a pitbull when it involves an attack. it sells papers and keeps people on the channel so they dont realy care, alot of the time these days if they are wrong [99% of the time] they make a miniscule report in the least looked at section of the paper with the correct breed description. Most of the time it will be another news station or a different paper who did the real research and have the correct breed stated. by then the damage is done on our breed.

Yep this one is true. The dogs in the video were just playing and they were having a ball chewing on the cop car.

Like Junkyard says, however, misreporting of breeds is absolutely rampant. A couple of weeks ago I actually called a talkback radio show to complain about exactly this. They were talking to someone whose racehorse had been attacked by two dogs and although that guy had half a clue and had called them "bull terrier/mastiff type dogs" the radio host insisted on calling them not just "pit bulls" but the full "American Pit Bull Terrier" when he referred to them.

The producer I spoke to wasn't overly concerned when I explained that at no point did the horse's owner refer to the dogs as pit bulls. Needless to say I didn't make it to air and no mention of the mislabeling was made.

Unfortunately if it looks like a "pit bull" it is one.

Lol... Thanks for the videos. There were dogs encouraging him to keep doing that to the car. Why did the dog choose this car? I wish the dog could talk. In the other hand, the dog didn't resist arrest. lOL
