2 pit bull owners charged in dog attack on woman
San Diego --
Criminal charges were filed against the owners of two pit bulls that mauled a 75-year-old San Diego woman and forced the partial amputation of her leg, officials said Thursday.
Alba Cornelio, 39, and her daughter, Carla Cornelio, 19, were arrested Wednesday night by officers with the San Diego County Department of Animal Services. They were charged Wednesday with a felony of failing to control an animal that caused serious bodily injury and also with several misdemeanor counts, said Tanya Sierra, a spokeswoman for the county district attorney's office.
Both remained jailed Thursday, and a call to their home seeking comment was not returned.
The Cornelios bred and sold pit bull puppies, animal control Lt. Dan DeSousa said.
Great, just what we need. More bad press caused by irresponsible owners and backyard breeders. SMH.. I think its very sad that an elderly woman had part of her leg amputated because of the damage done by the dogs.
Anyone in the San Diego hear anything else about this on the news? Have they shown the actual dogs and if so, do they look like Pit Bulls or "pitbull" type of dogs?
I just stumbled upon this story while on the Yahoo homepage when I was looking at the locals news here in the bay area.
